Week 3
KG celebrates
International Peace
Day!
This week, children will continue to settle
into their Kindergarten classrooms with
their teachers and teaching assistants!
Children will continue to learn the
routines and rules of their classroom.
Personal, social and emotional behavior,
including self-regulation skills, are
integral to the functionality of a KG
classroom. Children are practicing new
responsibilities and respect of their new
surroundings which takes time. They are
adapting well! We have also started our
unit on Nursery Rhymes and have
introduced the students to rhyming
words. Ask your child to try to recite a
nursery rhyme they have learned. Have
fun with your child this weekend by
reading some of your favorite nursery
rhymes from childhood.

Skills: Letters a/t/m/d
Letters make names,, and sounds continuing to
order and count letters in names.
Tools we use to help us order the ABCs: letter
strips and ABC charts
Review of rhyming (names/CVC words) and
syllables (1-4 syllables).
Understanding new vocabulary, and rhyming words
Book handling skills and elements of a book (front
and back cover, title, author, illustrator).
Retelling: What happened in the beginning and end
of the story?
Social Studies Math
Learning new Counting objects 1 by 1
routines and rules. Counting up to 5, 10, 20
What is a leader? by 1s.
