MAJOR DELIVERABLES

The core deliverables of Manchester United Soccer Club are to sponsor the tournament with
the amount being sponsored by different organizations, it also generates the list of colleges
that can participate in the tournament. It also helps to make a list of the teams that will
participate along with the list of their players and their schedule as well. They also arrange
trophy and other rewards as well for the winner team as well as for the runner up. Sometimes
when the sponsors allow they also arrange rewards for the participants and the club members
as well.

How would developing a WBS alleviate some of the problems that occurred during the first
meeting and help Nicolette organize and plan the project?

Answer

The technique of using WBS is the best technique to cut down the work to small pieces, it
allows to work on each part which make it more proficient and organized. There are plenty of
problems in the first meeting but developing a WBS will surely help Nicolette to focus on each
portion clearly and find a better cost effective solution. Some of the problems discussed in first
meeting are as follows;

Finding highly qualified referees to reduce poor decisions was a major conflict
Surveying each college to filter best playgrounds was very difficult and time consuming.
Make an accurate fee amount that will help to meet all the expenses but will attract
audience as well.
The rewarding policy was a difficult phase because of cost and budget.
Finding more and appropriate sponsors to meet the cost and extend the budget.

Where can Nicolette find additional information to help her develop a WBS for the
tournament?
Answer

The best way is to form a team of colleagues and divide task among them this way they will
have more resources to gather needed information to develop WBS. There are many other

soccer clubs as well with more experience and knowledge so it is the most easy and appropriate
way to contact them to receive more information and their support as well.

Question 4

How could Nicolette and her task force use the WBS to generate cost estimates for the
tournament? Why would this be useful information?

Answer

The core purpose of arranging this tournament is to generate profit for the club which isnt any
easy task, it requires time, efforts, proper planning, cost and knowledge as well. So as said this
all requires keen observation and proper planning to be successful so WBS not just help in
keeping track record of the event but also divides the work load properly and makes everyone
in the team responsible for its own assigned task. It also helps in estimating the cost along with
providing a proper schedule of the work. But also lets keep this in mind that it isnt an easy task
to structure a work breakdown because it requires time, experience and understanding of the
project as well.

Identify high risk areas and stakeholders and severity of risk.( low, medium high)?

Answer

Following are some risk areas and stakeholders.

1. The name of Manchester club is involved so failure to deliver can badly effect the
goodwill.
2. The sponsors are the major stakeholders in this event because all the event is
dependent upon their investment.
3. So, there is high risk involved for the sponsors as well because their investment is on
stake.
4. This event is going to be very costly because Nicolette is planning for an impressive
event like hiring qualified referees, using designers to design T- shirts and sweatshirts, Page | 5
booking local colleges playground.
5. Nicolette is also a major stakeholder and high risk is involved to her own name any
failure can cost her the job and her career as well.
6. The football teams are also a major stakeholder because without them this event isnt
possible at all but there is a very low risk for them.
