THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CHILDREN AND HOUSE HOLD

CONDITION AND THE LONG OF TREATMENT FOR DHF
PATIENTS IN MATERNITY ROOM AT MARGA HUSADA
WONOGIRI IN 2004

Abstraction
The background : DHF in infectius illness whichj is caused by dengue virus and spread by bitting of Aedes
aegypty mosqiutos. The disease can attraction all people and it can cause the people die especially for
children, it often causes amazingthing in Indonesia, the disease is one of the society health problems which
is increasing in number of patients recently, and it is larger in its spreading.
The goal of study : is to know the relation between the long of being ill at home and the childrens
characteristics and the house hold condition and the long of the treatment in the hospital.
The mothod of the study : is the explanatory research using cross sectional arrangement.
The population and the sample : children of DHF patient who are treated in the maternity romm / unit at
Marga Husada Hospital Wonogiri during January to March 2004 for 47 patients.
Independent variable : the long / period of being ill at home, the childrens characteristics including the
sexual status and age, the household condition including the education of the patients parents, the rate of
the patients parents income and the distance of the patiens house and the hospital, dependent variable the
long of the treatment in the hospital.
The data is summited by interview tecnique with the patients parents, abservation to the medical report,
and using descriptive analyzing and analitical pearson corelation in 5% significant rate.
The result : the average period of the treatment at home 2,98 days. For the characteristics of the childrens
sexual status, there is a significant difference between the boys and the girls, the most of the patients age
attacted ranging from 10 to 12 years old for 25 patiens ( 53,2% ). For the parents caracteristics : the
patients whose parents with the longest education background who are most attacted by DHF, having
medium income and the distance of the house from the hospital is father than 40 km.
Conclution : there is relation between the long of being ill at home and the long of the treatmen at
hospital, there is not crelation between the patients characteristics and the long of treatment at hospital,
there is not corelation between the house hold condition and the long of treatment at the hospital.
