First aid plant (Aloe Vera) as Termiticide

Background of the study

- Termites are eusocial insects that are classified at the taxonomic rank of infraorder

Isoptera, or as epifamily Termitoidae within the cockroach order Blattodea.

- They are mostly on woods because they need moisture to live , termites are known for

being the most successful groups of insects on our planet but they cause a lot of

annoyance to all people because they tend to cause serious damage to building, house,

crops and plantation forests.

- Their known species is already 3106.

- They are known as silent eaters they can eat through solid wooden walls, flooring,

and even wallpaper undetected

- Termites had been known for being a pest in every house, as we know termites eats

wood also they use large parts of wood as their shelter.

- The researchers decided to make a termiticide. We used Aloe Vera extract as

termiticide so that It wouldnt be harmful enough for the environment, it is known for

the fact as one of essential oils.

Scientific and societal

Importance: it lessens the usage of high-concentrated pesticides use to kill termites. And

nobody can get sick while spraying it, not like the pesticide it causes dizziness to some

people who smelled it.

Application: the extract used is an essential oil that has many beneficial uses. And now

added it can be use as a termiticide.

Impact: it will help in exterminating termites without paying for exterminator.

Hypothesis

- Alternative : the Aloe Vera extract termiticide will be effective in exterminating

termites

- Null : the Aloe Vera extract termiticide wont be effective in exterminating termites

Research questions

Will it help in solving an already existing problem?

Is it harmful for other insects?

Will it be able to exterminate termites?

Is Aloe Vera the only plant that can kill termites?

Engineering Goals

The Researchers want to know what will be the effect of the termiticide and will it be

effective as an exterminator of the termites.

Expected outcome

The researchers expect that their product will be useful in exterminating large groups of

termites. Also the researchers expect that the termiticide well be helpful in preventing

growth of the population of termites and it can exterminate termites

Significance of the study

- The termiticide out of aloe vera will help in decreasing the termites population

- It is way cheaper than getting an exterminator.

 - It uses natural oil. Base on our research essential oils are used in many ways and one

of them is used as bug repellants.

- And, it dealt no harm in our environment

Materials:

- Aloe Vera leaves

- Gloves
- Knife
- Mortar
- Spray bottles

Methodology:

I. Slice the Aloe Vera leaf into halves

II. Slice apart the aloe vera jelly from its leave

III. peel out the outer cover

IV. use a mortar to crush the jelly of the aloe vera

V. use a piece of cloth to filter and extract the crushed aloe vera jelly

VI. Put the aloe vera extracts mixed w/ water in sprayers

Risk and safety:

- dont play with the knife

- wash hands after doing the experiment to avoid ingestion of allergen content

- wash used materials to avoid contamination

As you can see the sample with the high amount of Aloe Vera extract killed or exterminated
more termites within 4 days

Discussion:

The researchers decided to create 2 samples. One with high amount of Aloe Vera extract and

one with low amount of Aloe Vera extract. Because the researchers needed more accurate

information and different results. To know that, we need to know how will the termites react

to the samples differently. Thats why we created 2 different samples.

Summary of findings and conclusion

Therefore the results show that the Aloe Vera extract can be used as termiticide due to high

level concentration of aloe vera extract, it proves that it is less harmful than other pesticides,

and it can exterminate termites.

Recommendation

Try to use:

- catnip oil

- vetiver grass

Abstract:

This study aimed to investigate about the effect of Aloe Vera plant on termites and would it

be effective as a termiticide. For the fact we know that termites are the most successful

groups of insects on our planet but they cause a lot of annoyance to all people because they

tend to cause serious damage to buildings, crops, and plantation forests. Thats why the

researchers created a termiticide but with a less harmful pesticide. The researchers created

two different samples to examine what will be more effective. The samples were sample A

with 75% aloe-25%water and sample B with 25%aloe-75%water. It was determined that the

Aloe Vera extract can kill or exterminate termites. And the sample that is more effective in

exterminating is sample A that have a high amount of Aloe Vera extract. The results suggest

that the more content of Aloe Vera extract the more it is effective.

The results shown positivity that aloe vera can be used as termiticide and as an exterminator

of termites. The answer to the hypothesis is that, it can exterminate termites. Now you can

make your own temiticide by simply following the methods. The results suggest that the

more content of Aloe Vera extract the more it is effective.

Not only as a termiticide but has a many beneficial uses. It contain high level of antioxidants

that can protect the skin, also it has a antibacterial and antifungal contents like amodin and

aloin. It is the most helpful and beneficial plant.
