Internationalization or Globalization

Introduction

In this new activity we go more in depth with the effects of globalization and how

some scholars have divided this process of globalization in different stages; for

example Gran Theborn says that the process of globalization has been

implemented in six different waves from the diffusion of religion in the world

between centuries IV-VII until the decade of 1980, Fernand Braudel says

globalization has 4 different aspects that connect with one another: social,

political, economical and cultural, also Carlota Perez talks about the different

phases of globalization, she divides this process into historical figures; First Period

(1870-1913), Second Period (1945-1971) and Final Period (1980-Now).

With all of the new technologies that have been developing Carlota Perez states

that we could take part in a new process of globalization when technological

revolution in biotechnology, bioelectronics, nanotechnology and other materials

has been reached. This new revolution will be characterized by the immediate

process of information and processing of data, this incredible new scientific

advances will shape our new economy.

Conclusion

The new manufacturing processes and integration have been the most impactful

to our recent economy, the presence of multinational companies has implemented

mass production and made production for smaller companies more difficult as

they hace to compete with lower prices, and constant movement of big amounts

of capital. Also a big issue is economic inequality is worse than ever and

concentration of capital is staying in the same place, which may not be seen at first

glance since economies are growing but the rest of the population has been

affected by lower standards of living. And the need for low cost manufacturing has

caused that many people in developing countries have to work in almost

inhumane standards because the cost has to be very low in order to compete.
