Course Synopsis The course will focus on the basic and preliminary terms in adth; such
as adth, sunnah, khabar, athar, etc. Development of sciences of
adth, the status of sunnah in Islm, adth compilation and its
preservation, the system of isnd (chain of narrators) classification of
adth, fabrication in adth: its causes and the methods of dealing with
them; famous adth treatises, especially the six adth canonical
collections (al-kutub al-sittah), Muwaa of Imm Mlik, Sunan al-
Drim and Musnad Imm Amad ibn anbal.

Course 1. To make the students aware of the status of adth and sunnah in
Objectives Islm.
2. To familiarize the students with the methodology of dealing with the
issues related to adth.
3. To develop in the students an in-depth understanding of the
contribution of the Islamic scholars towards the preservation of the
authenticity of adth literature.

Learning Upon completion of this course the student should be able to:
