What is a digipak?

Digipaks are often used for CD singles or special editions of CD albums.


Digipaks typically consist of a book-style paperboard or card stock outer binding,
with one or more plastic trays capable of holding a CD or DVD attached to the inside.
The generic digipak came to be used to describe all soft CD packaging.
Digipaks were first created by MeadWestvaco and their product, Digi-Pak, is
trademarked.
However, as the format became more popular and began to be used by more
manufacturers.
How in current times, digipaks are very common and very popular.
How does a digipak benefit the artist?

The front of the genre will give basic ideas on some aspects of what the artist
represents and what their more predominate genre is. Often, an artists digipak
could embody a theme and a message about the brand identity, in an aim to
increase the popularity of the artist.
All aspects of the digipak, brand image and music video will often be linked with
each other.
Digipaks can be seen as a promotional aspect of the music industry, bringing
awareness to the artist, selling them and encouraging consumers to buy and listen
to their music.
It can be said that buying a digipak establishes the buyers loyalty to the artist.
