Academic success can be simply defined as student self-motivation, self-
efficiency and his power to cope with the study environment, with the
only goal to achieve excellent academic performance at school. In
developed societies, academic achievement and community service
programs plays an important role in every persons life. The AMI (Senior
Branch) had a number of curricular and extra curricular activities in
August and September.

Thats right! We celebrated the 70th independence day


Jashn e Pakistan in high spirits. Various in house
activities were organized and students dressed up in
green and white. For smooth running of student
programmes, Elections 2017-18 elected the student
council, with Rania Khan as the President and Maria Ovais
as Vice President. Social welfare programmes promote
personal growth and self esteem. Volunteering
encourages civic responsibility. Community service and
volunteerism are an investment in our community and
the people who live in it. There are a whole range of
benefits that come from involvement in these programs.
Students of O-I and O-II participated in Social Welfare
Programme. They visited Ida Rieu, Child Aid, Kidney
Centre, ACELP and SRSC. Participants were engaged in
helping not only the staff members in collating medical
history of patients but also volunteered in making the
mentally challenged children, involved in constructive
activities such as painting, weaving, block printing, and
computer programming. They also celebrated Pakistan
Day and birthdays with the less privileged.

Motivation comes in many ways and from a variety of


sources. Rewarding students for achievements on tests,
projects, speeches, and activities is very important.
Consistent use of rewards helps build morale and
motivation. Students like to see their accomplishments
praised. Everyone strives a bit harder if they know they
will receive some acknowledgement or reward at the end
of the project. Test performance can improve
dramatically if students are offered rewards. The
Honour Roll ceremony acknowledged students for their
effort endorsed academically. Students of grade seven
to O-II were awarded shields for their outstanding
academic performance in 2016-17, both in school and
CIE examination.

Students have the opportunity to participate in a variety


of extracurricular activities during their time at school
from sport, music and drama to personal
development. The Life Skills Programme have an
addition this year__ Robotics. Robotics teach students
how to communicate across different technology
platforms. Understand the audience of these different
platforms and gain experience crafting effective
messages for the various audiencesa crucial skill that
we all need to be familiar with, no matter what career
path we follow.

Members of Toastmasters club took an oath, making a


commitment to become Great Public Speakers.
Toastmasters has served over four million people, and
today the organization serves over 345,000 members in
142 countries, through its over 17,000 member clubs.

Environmental education provides important


opportunities for students to become engaged in real
world issues. They can see the relevance of their
classroom studies to the complex environmental issues
confronting our planet and they can acquire the skills
theyll need to be creative problem solvers and
powerful advocates. Grade IX students participated in the ECO Internship Programme. The participants
were given orientation on environment management. The event included briefings and presentations.
They also went for Beach Cleaning Activity.
The Masquerade Evening was well enjoyed by the students with the theme Comicans. The effort made
by some of the students was commendable.

The Queens Commonwealth Essay Competition is the worlds oldest schools international writing
competition, managed by The Royal Commonwealth Society since 1883. Every year, it offers all
Commonwealth youth aged 18 and under the opportunity to express their hopes for the future,
opinions of the present, and thoughts on the past through the written word. The competition is used by
individuals and teachers to build confidence, develop writing skills, support creativity and encourage
critical thinking, using literacy to empower young people to become global citizens.
POINTS OF PRIDE

In Queens Commonwealth Essay Competition. This year Syeda Humnah Razzak of O-I has received a
silver medal. Areeb Tahir, Rayyan Asim, Ammar Khalid and Sukana Ali Raza of grade IX have received
bronze medals. Congratulations to all the 44 participants.

The CIE result brought feathers in our cap!


Wajih-ul-Haq Kureishy grabbed Outstanding Learners Award across Sindh and Baluchistan in Pakistan
Studies in CIE June 2016 Olevel Exam.
