Trade-off1: Isolated Footing Foundation with Prefabricated Vertical Drains

Source: https://www.slideshare.net/samirsinhparmar/design-of-prefabricated-vertical-drains

The use of prefabricated vertical drains with preloading is now common practice and is proving
to be one of the most effective ground improvement techniques known.

PVDs are artificially-created drainage paths which are inserted into clay subsoil for accelerating
consolidation of fine-grained soils by promoting radial flow/ drainage.
