Remote Accelerator Pedal or Lever Position Sensor 1 Circuit - Voltage Below Normal or Shorted to
Low Source

Fault Code: 1361 Remote Accelerator Pedal or Lever Calibration-dependent power and speed
PID(P), SID(S): Position Sensor 1 Circuit - Voltage derate.
SPN: 974 Below Normal or Shorted to Low
FMI: 4/4 Source. Low voltage detected at
Lamp: Amber the remote accelerator pedal or
SRT: lever position sensor signal circuit.

Circuit Description:
The remote accelerator pedal or lever position sensor provides the operator's accelerator command to the electronic
control module (ECM) through the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) harness and engine harness. The ECM uses
this signal to determine the fueling command.

Component Location:
The remote accelerator pedal or lever position sensor varies with each OEM. Refer to the OEM service manual.

Shop Talk:
There are multiple ECMs for the engine models included in this manual. Each ECM has an individual source address that
displays when INSITE electronic service tool is connected. When troubleshooting a fault code, use the source address
displayed in INSITE electronic service tool to determine which ECM and circuit is affected.
If troubleshooting an intermittent remote accelerator pedal or lever position sensor problem, the remote accelerator
pedal or lever position sensor signal voltage can be monitored with INSITE electronic service tool, while working the
harness to locate the intermittent connection.
Possible causes of this fault code include:
Remote accelerator pedal or lever position signal wire has shorted to engine ground or remote accelerator pedal or
lever position return (sensor return 1) wire in the OEM harness, engine harness, or sensor
A circuit is open in the remote accelerator pedal or lever position signal or remote accelerator pedal or lever position
supply (sensor supply 1) in the harness or connectors
Damaged remote accelerator pedal or lever position sensor
The remote accelerator pedal or lever position enable switch must be turned on for the remote accelerator pedal or
lever position sensor to operate.
