I. Objective:
* Describe the features of each layer of the atmosphere.
* Compare the features of the four layers.
KBI: Appreciate the importance of the atmosphere and the layers of the atmosphere.
III. Procedure:
A. Preliminary Lesson:
1. Review: Fact or bluff
The teacher will ask questions about their previous lesson.
The students will answer the questions and raise their cardboards with their
answer.
Questions:
1. A watershed is an artificial lake, storage, pond created using a dam to store water.
(Bluff)
2. Recycling plastics and papers is one example of conserving our natural resources.
(Fact)
3. A reservoir is one example of natural resources.
(Bluff)
4. A waterfalls is an area of land where all of the water that falls in it drains off of it goes
to a common outlet.
(Bluff)
5. Coal is an example of renewable resources.
(Bluff)
2. Motivation:
* The class will be divided into five (5) groups. The teacher will give each group a
word puzzle. The students will find and encircle the words in the puzzle. The group
that will first to finish the activity will win the game.
3. Presentation:
B. Lesson Proper:
1. Activity: What is the basis for dividing Earths atmosphere into layers?
(Group activity: Each group will perform the activity)
Criteria
Teamwork 50%
Accuracy 30%
Time management 10%
Behavior 10%
Total 100%
2. Analysis:
1. What are the four layers of the atmosphere?
* The four layers of the atmosphere are troposphere, stratosphere,
mesosphere, and thermosphere.
2. What is the estimated height of each layer?
* The troposphere is 10 to 40 km above the earths surface, stratosphere
is 50 km, mesosphere is 80 km and thermosphere is 110 km above the
earths surface.
3. In which layers is temperature increasing with increasing altitude?
* The layer in which the temperature increase with increasing altitude are
the stratosphere and thermosphere
4. In which layers is temperature decreasing with increasing altitude?
* The layer in which the temperature decrease with increasing altitude are
the troposphere and mesosphere.
3. Abstraction:
* What are the four layers of the atmosphere?
* The four layers of the atmosphere are troposphere, stratosphere,
mesosphere, and thermosphere.
* What is the difference between the each layer of the atmosphere?
* The difference between each layer of the atmosphere is that each layer
plays a different role in protecting the earth and all inhabitants in it.
4. Application:
* Imagine the atmosphere and the layers of the atmosphere, is atmosphere and
the layers of the atmosphere important for our daily lives survival?
Imagine the world without our atmosphere, what can you infer from it?
IV. Evaluation:
Direction: Read each questions carefully and write only the letter of the correct
answer. Do it in a one fourth sheet of paper.
IV. ASSIGNMENT:
1. What is greenhouse effect?
2. Give at least 5 events that can cause global warming or climate change.
