OVERVIEW

Close supervisory & managing scope modification is critical to achievement of any project; and can significantly
influence budget, schedule, risk and quality of the entire effort. Rekha, (2013)

Though scope is well-defined early in planning & estimation stages; many factors still exist for scope alteration
basing its likelihood on clients request, economical, market, internal and governmental regulations etc.

The fundamental of effective scope management is outlining, prioritizing, communicating and reconciliation of
emergent needs all through the projects whole development till completion. Rekha, (2013)

The project scenario intends to factor in the change request by the stakeholders so as to produce a more effective
BHS for DIA

SCOPE ALTERATION RECOMMENDATIONS& EXPECTED RESULT

1. Advice to senior management constitutes a change control board. Sanghera, (2010, p 309 - 310) to
evaluate impending risk; having meeting reviewing current project scope, probable alteration &probable
effect demand issued by airlines & stakeholders

EXPECTED RESULT 1

1. Senior management may see the line of thought of stakeholders and recommend corrective action to the
BHS or preventive actions as regards performance.

2. Recommend a status update on alteration request & update project document to protect the integrity of
the process& manage cost control to assess prevailing financial plan & regulate criterion for
accomplishment of alteration. Furthermore, a process must be in place to embrace scope alteration with
good decision making structure and closing indications to reviewed strategy &conditions by all
stakeholders.

EXPECTED RESULT 2

2. The reviewed PMP and update to change request be evaluated against project goal to ensure that the
project meets the expected requirement in terms of cost, schedule and resources baseline & other
subsidiary plans.

3. COMMUNICATION: Adoption of good communication plan to include entire stakeholders. Most

importantly, this must be a plan in place for receiving & authorization of altered scope& plan with
involvement of key stakeholders.

4. CHANGE CONTROL: Adoption of methodology for authorization of well- defined scope alteration and
updating its effect on budget &plan initiated by probable modification demand. Sanghera, (2010, p 308)
emphasized application integrated alteration control methodology that will embrace identification of
change, processing alteration, manage authorized modification& guard the whole alteration process.

5. SCHEDULE CONTROL: Determining schedule effects triggered by probable alteration. This includes
interfacing of previously ordered machines with proposed estimated delivery &completion dates. Most
importantly, a strict plan sustained for original alteration procedure. Franchina, (2010)
In conclusion, project scenario depicts poor scoping& planning methods. Nevertheless, it is imperative for PM to
determine& evaluate projects requisite, principles& organization methodology required for the projects
completion, make necessary recommendation for modification; thus aiding acquaintance of baseline for project
landscape. Wysocki, (2009, p. 299)
