Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen.

The topic for this debate is that a total

ban on the contractualization of employment in the Philippines would be counter-
productive. We the negative team believe that this statement is false.

Today I will be talking about the positive effect of banning endo and labor only
contractualization. ENDO and labor only Contractualization should end because it is
a burden to the laborer. A common member of the proletariat only wanted to uplift his
life by having a secured job that would meet the daily needs and would be enough to
secure the future of his family. As you can see the burden that both endo and labor
only contractualization gives a reflection of the daily struggle of a Filipino contractual
laborer. Both endo and Labor only contractualization has deprived many laborers of
the opportunity to enjoy the full benefit of being a regular employee. Also, we can say
that it has even deprived him of his right to enjoy life because he keeps on worrying
about the future.

Because of these injustices we believe that a total ban of endo and labor only
contractualization is productive to our nation. Let me enumerate my points: without
both endo and labor only contractualization our WORKFORCE WILL HAVE A GOOD
FINANCIAL STANDING; IT WILL MAKE AN EFFECTIVE WORKFORCE; IT WILL
ENCOURAGE BUSINESSES TO FOLLOW THE LAW. Let me elaborate my points.

Our First point, ending endo and labor only contractualization would raise the
financial standing of the laborer by being secured to his job which gives him an
opportunity to grow and climb the career ladder. Also, being employed as a regular
employee entitles him to full benefit of 13th month pay, PhilHealth, SSS, and Pag-IBIG
this is a big help to a laborer. It helps secure his future and it gives him the sense of
security that most worker looks for.

With those opportunity and benefits it brings us to our Second point namely, it
will make an effective workforce. How? because a happy and content worker is an
effective worker. By giving a worker happiness and the feeling of contentment it will
encourage him to work for more goals in his chosen career and thus, forging his skills
with experience. Moreover, the workforce of a country is the driving force of the
economy. The workforce is very important. A country exist because of its economy, to
have an economy you must have a strong and effective workforce. How could our
country build a strong workforce if the laborers are not given an opportunity to grow,
the culprit! Is endo which violates the security of tenure a worker thus, preventing his
growth.

Lastly our 3rd and final point, ending Endo and Labor only contractualization
encourages businesses to follow the law. Because many of the big corporations and
Small and medium enterprises bypass the law by using Endo as a tool to lower the
cost of labor expenses in order to maximize their profits. while extracting a lot of effort
of a laborer that has to work for hours and will only get a minimum pay which is enough
to survive the day but not enough to secure his future.

Moreover, continuing both endo and labor only contractualization is counter

productive and these are our points: it affects the FINANCIAL STANDING OF
WORKERS; it HAMPER EFFORTS OF BUILDING A CAREER; and it VIOLATES THE
RIGHT TO FULL EMPLOYMENT which is AGAINST SOCIAL JUSTICE. Let me
reiterate these points:

Firstly, it affects the financial standing of workers because both endo and labor
only contractualization deprives a laborer from being secured to his job and not
receiving benefits like the SSS, PhilHealth, and PAG-IBIG thus, depriving him from
enjoying his right to the job that he chose to pursue.

Secondly, endo and labor only contractualization does not give the laborer an
opportunity to grow because the laborer cannot build a career by mere 5 months. Also
it would discourage the laborer from performing at his best because of the thought of
being removed gives him doubts to himself. because there is no certainty in his current
job.
Lastly, As mentioned earlier by my colleague that under the constitution
laborers are entitled to equality of employment opportunities and full employment. The
former, the creation of equal employment opportunities would destroy the cause of
social tension which is unemployment! Why is it a social tension? Because
unemployment leads to the distortion of personality and gives life without a color or
texture and It is a waste of the nations manpower. The latter, full employment will
enable the laborers to lift their level of life and will contribute their share in the task of
nation building. It is a constitutional right thus, it supersedes any other law or any
department orders. Moreover, endo and Labor only contractualization is against social
justice because the state should create economic opportunities for all the citizens and
they are constitutionally entitled to be secured to their economic opportunity. However,
endo and labor only contractualization violates it.

So ladies and gentlemen, I end this speech with a quote from Norway.
I have the audacity to believe that people everywhere can have three meals a
day for their bodies, Education and culture for their minds, and Dignity, Equality, and
Freedom for their spirits.
