Job Description

Job title: Test Event Support (Press Operations) Intern


Division: Games Operations
Department: Press Operations
Reports to: Venue Press Operations Manager

Job purpose
The primary purpose of this role is supporting the Venue Press Operations Manager and Photo
Operations Manager across all aspects of planning and delivering Gold Coast 2018 test events
Press Operations is responsible for planning and delivering all of the services and facilities required
by the media to cover the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.
This role will support the Press Operations team in a key aspect of delivering an excellent level of
service to the media at the Games by supporting the delivery of test event programme.

Objectives
The Corporation is committed to showing leadership in sustainability by delivering the Gold Coast
2018 Commonwealth Games (GC2018) to international standards. All employees will be responsible
to ensure that they understand and apply the principles of sustainable development to GC2018
planning and delivery.

Responsibilities
Assist the Press Operations Manager and Photo Operations Manager with all planning and delivery
requirements for test events. This will depend on the scope of events but likely to include assisting with:
Attending meetings and supporting all planning activities
Media accreditation processes for specific events
Training and supporting Press Operations volunteers
Communicating with Press Operations volunteers
Assisting the media at designated events
Compiling reports following each event

Requirements
This role will be best suited to a student who:

Has a keen interest in the Media and learning more about how Media operate at major events
Has excellent written skills with an adaptable communication style
Pays excellent attention to detail
Is very well organised
Is a team player able to work within specific guidelines
Is keen to learn and develop in an interesting environment whilst contributing to the overall success of
the Games

Majors

Journalism, PR and Communications, Media related subjects


Non-media related subjects such as business administration or hospitality and tourism may also be suited
to this role
