NEW DELHI 110002 uly 2000 Price Group § Secondary Cells and Batteries Sectional Committee, ET 11 FOREWORD ‘This Indian Standard (Second Revision) was adopted by:the Bureau of Indian Standards, after the draft Sinalized by the Secondary Cells and Batteries Sectional Committee, had been approved by the Electrotechnical Division Council ‘This standard was first published in 1976 and was first revised in 1982. This revision has been prepared ‘covering the updated goneral requirements and methods of tests for lead-acid storage batteries based on available technology and experience gained so far. Specific requirements and tests for particular applications ‘are specified in individual specifications. All the tests specified in this standard may not be applicable to all the batteries. In case any difference exists between this standard and the individual specification the provisions of the latter shall apply. For the purpose of deciding whether a particular requirement of this standard is complied with, the final value, observed or calculated, expressing the result of a test, shall be rounded off in accordance with 1S 2:1960 "Rules for rounding off numerical values (revised).’ The number of significant places retained in the rounded off value should be the same as that of the specified value in this standard 1S 8320 : 2000 ANNEX C (Clause 10.1) INFORMATION TO BE FURNISHED BY MUTUAN: AGREEMENT BETWEEN ‘THE SUPPLIER AND THE PURCHASER Cot When supplying lead-acid cells and battercs, fe following particulars should be furnished by the supplier a), Capacity of battery and the rate of discharge, by Manufacturer's name; ) Type of negative plates; 4) Method of connection between cells, hats whether bolted or burnt, ©) Recommended starting and furnishing rates of charge: 1}. Voltage per cell at the end of charge at the finishing rate; g) Recommended trickle charging rates for different types of workings hy The type and material of the separators; |) Material of container, 1) Amount and specific gravity of electrolyte Per call required for frst fillings 1m) Recommended specific gravity of electrolyte at the end of a full charge 1) Expected specific gravity of electrolyte atthe tend of the discharge at the specified rate; 1p) Overall dimensions ofeach cell and battery; 1) Distance between the centers of cells when erected; 1) Weight of ell*oattery complete with acid, 4) Recommended maximum period of storage before the first charge; and 1) Internal resistance of the cell. ANNEX D (Clause 12.1.4) SAMPLING SCHEME AND CRITERIA FOR ACCEPTANCE p-1 SCALE OF SAMPLING D-1.1 Seale of Sampling, “The mumber of batteries 10 be selected at random Trea the Tot shall be in accordance with col Land 2 of Table 2 In order to ensure the randomness of selection, in dom number tables shall be used (see 1S 4908) Del.2 The batteries solected as above shall be Riojected to the acceptance test in the order specified in the individual specification. Each of the batteries selected im the first staBe 1” esordance with col 2 of Table 2 shall be tested for acceptance tests, A battery shall be declared defective ‘Tirtails in one or more of the acceptance tests. If the numberof defectives is less than or equal t0 Cy, the lot shall be considered as conforming to equal 9 or greater than C, the lot shall be considered as not ee beming to the requirements of the standard. If fhe number of defectives in the first stage is less than C, and greater than C,, a farber sample of ‘Rime size as taken in the first stage shall be ken hd tested. If the number of defectives in the (wo Samples combined is less than C,, the Tot shall be Sonvidered as conforming to the requirements of the Standard, otherwise the ot shall be considered as not onforming to the requirements of the standard. 1S #320 : 2000 ‘Table 2 Sample Size and Criteria for Conformity (Clauses D-1.1 and D-1.2) ot Stue et Second a ¢, G G Stage Stage N . * a @ o © © © o pie 50 2 2 ‘ ° 1 . 31 19 300 3 3 ‘ ° 1 a 201 t2 $00 s 5 10 ° 2 a $01 to 1000 ' . 16 ° 2 2 1001 and above 3 Bb 6 ° 3 4 [NOTE — ‘The sampling plan given ia the able envisages that os containing abou erent defective ati wl be aco 9 percent ‘rime, and ea coming 1S percent defective bteres wil erejeed 90 percent of ines 10
