not been issued but the land was demarcated. The school piece of land has no dispute. The
school has two complete permanent classes and one of the classrooms was converted into

The head teachers and deputy head teachers office as well as a library. The school has been
doing well in the National Examination council regulations of registering fifteen candidates
and over. It has become a challenge to our school for we rarely meet the condition due to low
enrolment.
The school has a total enrolment of eighty seven pupils. E.C.D alone with enrolment of sixty
eight. The school is well staffed. Our challenge is the school feeding programme and the
parents not providing the learners with basic needs.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The school was established in 1984 by the local leaders and the community.
The school is located South West Kabarnet market G.T.I Tarmac road Km ad 5 Km
murrum road to the school.
The area surrounding the school is a semi arid and has low social-economic status. The
community activities include keeping livestock and small scale farming. The school still
holds its cultural values including speaking passage of rites which indirectly affects the
performances of academic work.
From the challenge of cultural norms and the environmental factors there is need to enrich
the teaching of English and Kiswahili through cultivating correct reading culture of books.
The parents as well have not provided the basic needs to the pupils as expected, hence
leading to poor performance in the school and indiscipline cases i.e. theft cases.
We also experience drop outs from school because of the domestic of domestic factors,
pupils left alone and the basic needs not provided.
Some of the learners are forced to toil or engage in child labour so as to get the basic needs
food and clothings or even shelter.
The relationship between the parents and the school community is not good, especially the
non-parents.
PHYSICAL FACILITIES
PERMANENT CLASSES
Three complete permanent classes. One of the classes was converted to administration block.
The E.C.D classroom is among the permanent classes, which is also well equipped with
furniture, the third classroom is on completion or finishing. The desks are enough for all the
learners to sit in twos. There is a shortage of tables and chairs for teachers.
TEMPORARY CLASSES
There are eight temporary classes which are at a bad state. They require renovation since they
were built using iron sheets on the walls and the frames and the iron sheets are old. The roofs
as well require to be painted. The floors to be cemented.
SANITATION
The latrines are four in total for boys and girls. One of the latrines is for the staff. We have no
urinary for the boys. The ratio of boys to girls 1:23, which is still okay. The school requires a
urinal for the boys. The school has clean tap water and with storage Ken tanks which can
sustain the school for a whole term.
All the classrooms are cemented and are conducive for the learners. We have dug a rubbish
pit. The school compound is cleared, though it is wider area not very manageable.
