Students have been exposed to baptism and other sacraments in previous lessons.
Previous lessons have focused on the gift of human life and what it means to feel alive.
Lesson Objectives state how the students will demonstrate their understanding of the learning point and the
skills they will use in doing this
1. Students can identify one item involved in baptism
2. Students will be able to write a sentence on their photo
3. Students will identify and explain that through Baptism people become members of Gods community

Getting the children to sit in a circle whilst the teacher now goes
through the godly play with the script provided and the special
box to demonstrate what happens at a baptism.

Children will need to stand up and go and get their photos they Joy for living year 1

Students will come back down and form a community circle,
Students will display the photos in front of them to create a
baptismal focus.
Invite two or three children to share what is happening in their Ipads
photograph.
The children listen to, and sing, baptism song. Students baptism photo

Lead the children to an understanding that when people are
baptised they become a member of Gods family.
Focus questions:
- Who are the people who gather for a celebration of
baptism?
- Why do people gather for a baptismal ceremony?
- What family are you becoming apart of when you get
baptised?
7 students will stay on the floor with the ipads and be with the teacher
using book creator to take a photo of the image they brought in and
describe the image using a few sentences who/ what is in their photos
typing into book creator.
The other students will go and write a sentence or two in their
handwriting books about their image.
Students will then rotate through with the educator to put their photo
and sentence on book creator.
The baptism godly play will be allocated on the table for the children to
access.
Ask the rest of the class if they remember, what family do they belong
to when you are baptised? Children should respond as a group.
