October 2017

Dear Friend,
Greetings to you on this beautiful October day from everyone at the
church! Only the Lord Jesus can bring forth light in the darkness, sweetness despite
bitter circumstances, and hope in hopeless situations. Our faith is anchored in the
Rock of Ages, Christ Jesus, our hearts are kept pure by the power of His Spirit, and
our hope is steadfast in His Word, "..for He hath said, I will never leave thee, nor
forsake thee" (Hebrews 13:5).
In Romans 11:5 it says, "Even so then at this present time also there is a
remnant according to the election of grace" (Romans 11:5). He was speaking of a
time when the worldly ways seemed to take over everything, including Israel.
People's hearts had turned from the living God to idols and the prophet was lamenting
because he thought he was the only one left with any sense of God at all. But the Lord
told him that He reserved to Himself 7,000 men that had not bowed their knees to the
image Baal! The images of the world did not dictate the life of the believer! When we
look around and see very little good in the world, we see sin abounding and the hearts
of people are growing colder and more cruel because of iniquity, God still has a
remnant that hasn't bowed to that!
Over 15 years ago, our church installed blue carpeting throughout the building.
We have tried to keep it clean, vacuuming after every service, hiring a man to clean it
a couple of times a year, etc. So when you come to church it looks good! But after 15
years of use and regular wear little do we realize the colors are faded and there are
small areas where it is worn out. We would never notice it unless we compared it to
some of the remnants the installer left for us. A remnant is a piece of the original that
was left over and saved for various purposes. When placed next to the used areas we
see how vibrant the colors are and the fibers of the remnant are fresh. Spiritually
speaking, the modern day religions are out of date, worn out, and ready to be
replaced! But God has a remnant who still believes in the Gospel of Jesus Christ!
They are as fresh with the anointing and Word of faith as the original writings of the
early church! It is disturbing how far the modern church-age has gone from the
original. Standards have been let down, attending church services is no longer
important to some, Christian character lasts as long as the person is still in the church
building, and other means of getting needs met have replaced building our faith in the
Word of God and trusting and believing God for results. Now people rely heavily on
the arm of flesh, but there was a day when the people of God stood on the promises
found in the Bible. If only churches would teach the old time Gospel again, God's
people would be blessed and prospered by God!
I hear many people who do not know how to get to God ask, "What can we do
to get God's blessings back in our lives and back into America again?" The Bible tells
us how. For example, in Jeremiah 6:16 it says, "Thus saith the Lord, Stand ye in
the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk
therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk
therein." Wow! God gave them an answer but they refused. So can God be blamed
for when the bad comes? In another place, Jesus said, "Come unto Me, all ye that
labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and
learn of Me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your
souls" (Matthew 11: 28 & 29). Have you come to Jesus with your cares, your
burdens, and anxiety? Does your soul have rest from the worries of life? Does
temptation overcome you, or are you in that place where God's Spirit in you
overcomes whatever that temptation is?
Some may ask, "Where is the path? What is the way to walk where my
weariness and burdens are lifted?" One of His disciples asked those very questions
2,000 years ago. "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no
man cometh unto the Father, but by Me" (John 14:6). To find the Lord and His
ways will take a diligent search through the Scriptures on our behalf. But He is the
way. He is also the truth. There is no truth outside of Christ. There are opinions,
various religions, and personal experiences; but the Lord Jesus is the truth. And the
Lord Jesus Christ is the life. His life-style is the way of peace. He gives the believer a
perfect peace in the storms of life. When He gives you peace, it's not as the world
gives, for there is turmoil and stress and guile in the world. But His peace is pure, full
of mercy and good fruits, without partiality or hypocrisy, and easy to receive. His
peace brings us into partnership with God and others. When I am burdened and I
pray, as soon as I feel His peace come over me, I know He has heard my prayer
request and I can rest, knowing the answer is on its way! He takes care of the details
from there if I let Him. Turn to Him, rest in Him, and He will bring those things to
pass!
I invite you to our church services, where you can hear inspirational messages
and have your faith built up. Our schedule of services is Sunday at 10 am and 7 pm,
and Wednesday at 7:30 pm. Until next month, may God bless you "more abundantly!"

Sincerely,

Rev. Daniel Bossidy
