Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of the Senior High School Career Guidance Program on
the preferences of the students. Descriptive method was utilized involving 3,640 Grade 10
students. Survey questionnaire was used to gather data from the respondents. Findings
reveal that majority of the respondents preferred to stay on the school they were currently
enrolled in. There is a significant difference on the preference of respondents in terms of school.
There is no significant difference found on the preference of learners in their choice of track in Arts
and Design, Sports and TVL. On the other hand, there is a significant difference on the preferences
of the respondents to change their academic track after the conduct of CGP. Majority of the
learners decision was affected by their parents decision followed by their self-
assessment. It is recommended that the same CGP be used on the incoming grades 11 and 12 next
school year. An intensive orientation on the importance of this factor must be discussed to learners
and be included in the CGP.
