THE HVACR LABORATORY

OF THE DEPARTMENT OF
MECHANICAL ENGINEERING
COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING

(CONCEPT AND PROPOSAL)

RATIONALE
THE DEVELOPMENT OF TECHNOLOGY IN HVACR AND OTHER FIELDS HAVE
RESULTED IN NUMEROUS CHANGES IN THE HVAC INDUSTRY. GLOBALIZATION
HAS LED TO MULTINATIONAL COMPANIES OPERATING OVER A SEVERAL
COUNTRIES, REGIONS AND CONTINENTS. AS THE OPERATIONS INCREASE THE
INVOLVEMENT OF THE ACADEME BECOMES MORE INTENSIVE AS IT PROVIDES
INDUSTRY WITH GRADUATES HAVING SUFFICIENT KNOWLEDGE IN THE FIELD.

RECENT DEMANDS ON ENERGY AND ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES INCLUDING

SECURING HIGHER OPERATIONAL EFFICIENCIES, SETS THE NEED FOR GAIN IN
KNOWLEDGE IN THESE DIRECTIONS.

THE PRESENT COURSES AND HVAC EQUIPMENT IN THE DEPARTMENT OF

PROVIDE SUFFICIENT BACKGROUND ON THE FUNDAMENTALS OF HVAC AND
REFRIGERATION. HOWEVER, ONLY BASIC AND LIMITED RESEARCH CAN BE
DONE WITH THE PRESENT EQUIPMENT. UPGRADES ARE NECESSARY FOR
GAINING THE ABILITY TO DO MORE RESEARCH IN THE SAID FIELD.

INDUSTRY REQUIRES TRAINING OF THEIR PERSONNEL IN HVAC AND RELATED

FIELDS IN MECHANICAL ENGINEERING. PART OF THE TRAINING INDUSTRY IS
