EVALUATION OF COURSE WORK FOR Ph.D. & M.Tech. (By Research) – August 2010

1. The Evaluation of Course work for Ph.D./M.Tech. (By Research)/Integrated Research

programmes of Research Scholars enrolled during or before October 2009 session
are proposed to be held in October 2010, as elaborated in succeeding paragraphs.

2. Class work / Self Study: 3 Hours Written Examination.

a) Industrial Attachments/ Field Work: The Industrial Attachment/ Field work would
be evaluated by a Board comprising the following:
Chairperson : Supervisor
Member 1 : University Representative
Member 2 : An Expert from the concerned Industry (minimum DGM level)
/ Expert faculty member from the University.

3. Evaluation of Theory Courses:

External Exam: 3 hours paper; maximum marks = 100.

4. Evaluation of Industrial Attachment:

a) Project Report: 50 marks. In case of Industrial attachment, evaluation is to be done

by Industrial Supervisor. In case of field work, the assessment may be undertaken/
arranged by supervisor. Format for project report preparation is placed in Annexure A1.
The project report shall be spiral or hard bound.

b) Project presentation and Viva-Voce: 50 marks by Evaluation Board. The project

evaluation table is placed in Annexure A2.

5. Schedule of Examinations/ Evaluation Boards: September/October 2010

a) Written Examinations for Class Work / Self Study : Morning / Afternoon Sessions

b) Project presentations for Industrial Attachment/ Field work: To be scheduled by the

Supervisor.

6. Venue for Course Work Examinations: ACADEMIC CAMPUS - Anna University of

Technology, Coimbatore, Jothipuram, Coimbatore 641047

7. Application Forms (Enclosed): All Research Scholars are to forward their applications for
Written Examinations/ Project Evaluation in the enclosed Format, duly verified and endorsed
by the respective Supervisor, so as to reach the Office of the Controller of Examinations by
23.08.2010.

Note
1) The Supervisor is requested to scrutinize the application form thoroughly for correctness
before forwarding the same. Last minute corrections will not be accepted.
2) The Application must be accompanied with two copies of the syllabus (one duly signed
by the supervisor & the scholar with Reg.No. and another one without signature) for the
course work exams approved by the DC panel. Applications received without the
respective syllabus will not be considered.
3) Common syllabus for Research Methodology paper is available in our University website
for Engineering and Management & Science and Humanities separately.

8. Fees: The fees for Examinations/ Project Evaluation are as follows:

a) Rs. 500/- = per written Examination/ Presentation for Ph.D.
b) Rs.1500/- = per Field work/Presentation/Lab for Ph.D.
c) Rs. 300/- = per written Examination/ Presentation for M.Tech.(By Research)
d) Rs. 50/- = for application / registration and mark list

Note: The fees are to be paid in the form of DD drawn in favour of “The Controller of
Examinations, Anna University of Technology, Coimbatore”, payable at Coimbatore.

9. Exam dates will be announced shortly.

10. The candidates those who have not remitted the Tuition fee/Semester fee are not
eligible to appear for this course work examination.
