SUMMARIES (05)
(1) Try Again
The poem Try Again has been written by William Edward Hickson. In this poem he says that if at first you do
not succeed try again. Do not give up too easily, persistence gets reward at last. Instead of quitting because of
failure you should learn a lesson from it. It takes time to learn and to get success. We should not lose heart
because of failure as it is a good teacher. It will lead you to success. Try again, as it is the gateway to success and
to win the race.
(2) The Rain
The poem Rain has been written by W.H Davies. In this poem, the poet shows us the natural process of rain.
He creates a magical atmosphere of rain with his art of using words. He enjoys the musical fall of raindrops on
the leaves which shows the difference between the rich and the poor people. By his imagination of rain and
sunlight the poet shows the reality of life. The poet is very hopeful that the sun will shine brightly and fill all
dark round drops with light. He shows his hope that a time will come soon when there would be no difference
between the rich and the poor people and would be equality everywhere.
(3) Peace
The poem Peace has been written by Dr. Hartmann. In this poem, the poetess says that the wind is in the form
of storm smashes everything. In its rage it destroys trees, fields and buildings. But when the wind is gentle and
cool it gives life to buds, birds and humans. So, we should not lose heart because of hardships and difficulties,
but should learn a lesson from it. A person who faces hardships of life bravely and keeps on trying succeeds at
last because it takes time to learn and to get success. To act upon this rule will lead you to success. Such a
person is rewarded with eternal peace and pleasure.
