If You Wrote A Song For Jesus

As I was looking through an old hymnal today I began to read all of the
wonderful words to songs that I have known and sang for many years. Some
were of victory, some were of mountains and valleys, some were about the
shed blood of Christ and some were praises to God. Just reading the words
of these songs that I know, and many that I don’t know, has encouraged me.

One song, “I believe in miracles” caught my eye.

“Creation shows the power of God, there’s glory all around, and those who
see must stand in awe, for miracles abound. I cannot doubt the work of God,
it’s plain for all to see; the miracles that He has wrought should lead to
Calvary. The love of God, O power divine! Tis wonderful to see; The
miracle of grace preformed within the heart of me. I believe in miracles-I’ve
seen a soul set free, miraculous the change in one redeemed thru Calvary;
I’ve seen the lily push its way up thru the stubborn sod-I believe in miracles,
for I believe in God.

If I wrote a song for Jesus what story would it tell? Would it tell of His
“amazing grace”, “His power to set me free”, “the love of God’? I found so
many songs that told “my story” of His grace, redemption, healing,
deliverance, of His love for me, and my hope in Him to give me everything
that I need. How could I write a song that told more than these songs tell?

“He did it all for me”

Christ bore the cross to Calvary, bore it for me that day-He bled and died to
save me, so I might find the way to life eternal, waiting, when from the earth
I flee, Oh what a precious Savior! He did it all for me.

“Follow Me”
I traveled down a lonely road and no one seemed to care, the burden on my
weary back had bowed me to despair, I oft complained to Jesus how folks
were treating me, and then I heard Him say so tenderly, My feet were always
weary, upon the Calvary road; the cross became so heavy, I fell beneath the
load, be faithful weary pilgrim the morning I can see, just lift your cross and
follow close to me. I work so hard for Jesus I often boast and say I’ve
sacrificed a lot of things to walk the narrow way, I gave up fame and
fortune, I’m worth a lot to thee, and then I hear Him gently say to me, I left
the throne of glory and counted it but loss, my hands were nailed in anger
upon a cruel cross, but now we’ll make the journey with your hand safe in
mine, so lift your cross and follow close to me.

“Pass me not”
Pass me not Oh gentle Savior, hear my humble cry, while on others thou art
calling, do not pass me by. Let me at thy throne of mercy find a sweet relief,
kneeling there in deep contrition, help my unbelief. Thou the spring of all
my comfort more than life to me, whom have I on earth beside thee, whom
in Heaven but thee. Savior, Savior, hear my humble cry, while on others
thou art calling, do not pass me by.

“What a day that will be”

There is coming a day when no heartaches shall come, no more clouds in the
sky, no more tears to dim the eye, all is peace forevermore on that happy
golden shore, what a day, glorious day that will be. What a day that will be
when my Jesus I shall see, when I look upon His face, the one who saved me
by His grace, when He takes me by the hand and leads me through the
promised land, what a day glorious day that will be.
This is my favorite song and one that I will request to be played at my
parting from this life as I begin my life eternal with my Lord and Savior
Jesus Christ. WHAT A DAY THAT WILL BE!!!!

The subject of my writing today is not just about hymns, or music, or lyrics,
but about what our hearts are filled with because what they are filled with
will come out. It could be a song that comes out or a poem, or even a book.

If you wrote a song from your heart what would it say? Would it speak of
heaven, of His grace and love, of eternity, of trials being over, of victory, of
the shed blood of Jesus? What is it about your walk with the Lord that
makes your heart so full that you would want to tell others?

Take some time today to think about what God has done for you. Maybe you
can write a song or a poem to tell Jesus what He means to you and let it be a
testimony to others of His love, grace and mercy.

Revelation 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by
the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

We OVERCOME by the blood of the Lamb and the WORD of our

testimony! Whether we sing it, write it, speak it, or live it, we overcome!
