7. English Language
Scope: Learning & teaching of the 4 basic skills-reading, writing, listening and
speaking, grammar, vocabulary and text-types to satisfy the requirements
of the HKDSE.

Purpose: To equip students with the necessary skills and the language foundation
in using English for lifelong learning, further studies and work.

Design of Compulsory Part:


the
curriculum: Consolidating the basic knowledge in usage;
Systematic training in different types of writing;
Training in the advanced reading skills;
Training in listening skills and information processing skills in
listening paper;
Providing systematic training in the oral skills of presentation and
group interaction.
Providing greater exposure to language arts through a reading /
viewing programme.

Elective Part:
Adding variety to the English curriculum & broadening students
learning experience through the 3 elective modules we offer:
Learning English through Short Stories, Popular Culture & Social
Issues
School-based Assessment is conducted in both compulsory and
elective parts as a means of assessment to inform learning &
teaching.
