Date: 29/8/17

Goals/Questions: Study about French Revolution/ what cause the french revolution?

Notes: - French separate their people into three social classes called Estates.
- The first classes is King, The second classes are clergy and nobles and the last
classes is the commoner( middle class merchant and craftsman)

- The commoner are the only class who pay tax to other two classes. In some years
commoner almost having nothing left from paying tax.
- Necker a finance minister who push for a tax reform and publish governments
finances. So king called the three estates for a meeting about the tax by having a vote
to have a tax reform or not but the problem is one estate can only have one vote so
the first and second estates vote not to reform tax. So the third estate broke off and
declared themselves as The National Assembly. They attack Bastilled prison, stole a
weapon and the revolution start.
- Many clergy and Nobles fled away so the king started to feared about his future so he
tries to escape but finally he got caught and beheaded.

Reflections: I watch a video from TED-Ed about what cause the french revolution to
make an understand about it. I would be able to answers my question because the
content in the video contains a good summary of what cause french revolution which is
easy to understand. I would make a research more about french revolution from other
sources.

Goals/Questions: Study more about French Revolution.

Notes: - the cause of having a revolution because commoner in France that time is very
hungry.
- In the meeting of three estates the first and second estates have around 300
representatives each while the third estate have 600 representatives.
- The national assembly swore at the tennis court oath that they wont give up until a
french constitution was established.

- In October 1789, there was a rumor that queen store a grains in a palace so the
national assembly attack the palace and the king tried to escape and got captured.
- There was a group of people called Jacobins who still want a king so 50 of them got
killed by the rest of national assembly.
- Austria and Prussia are afraid of the revolution in the country so they tries to bring
back the king but the national assembly also have a plan of invade Austria so the can
maybe get some grains back to France and to spread the revolution into other country
around too.
- Prussia comes and help Austria to fight back the national assembly.
- In 1799, established Napoleon Bonaparte as a first consul of France.

Reflections: The video I watch come from crash course. Its about french revolution so i
wanted to study more about it. In this video, the content they speak is quite the same as
the first video that I just watch but it has more details.

Goals/Questions: Research about French Revolution from other site.

Notes: - There was only 7 prisoners in Bastille

- King move back to Paris after Versailles was attacked
- King and Queen dressed as servants to escape but they finally got caught and
brought them back to Paris

Reflections: A video from khan academy is easy to understand and very detailed. Its
quite similar from videos that I watch from TedED and Crash Course but there is a little
bit more detail. So in the note it wont be a lot of information because its already
mentioned in the other days note.

Notes: - Royalist got executed over 16,000 - 40,000 people, King and Queen also
executed too. This event is called Reign of Terror.
- Reign of Terror lasted from April 1793 - July 1794
- 1795 theyre peace with Prussia and Spain (France Victorious)
- In august 1795 France became a republic after constitution get approve.
- The government structure was set up where the executive was a group of five
directors, a council of 500 and a council of elder, which had 250.
- In October 1795 there was a Royalist who still wants a king back in France so
Napoleon killed the Royalist by using a cannon a shoot it like a shotgun called
grapeshot.

- Napoleon became famous after the events he killed Royalist and he became even
more famous because of 13 Vendemiaire.
- Napoleon won Austria in Italy so Austria make peace with France in October 1797.
The only enemy left is Great Britain which they have a very strong navy army.
- Napoleon decided to go to Egypt in 1978 and Napoleon hugely successful but there
was a problem that he brought his 20,000 troops by ship and they were still in was
with The Great Britain. So Great Britain send their navy army to attack Napoleons
army near Nile river which we called it Battle of the Nile.
- Napoleon take a chance and left all of his troops to get back to France. So he gets
more popular at the time that directory is unpopular.

- Napoleon disolved all the council of 500 and the council of elder and take a power
with two other directors then they became the three councils of France.

Reflections: Same as yesterday, Most of the things ive watch are already mentioned but
it explain me very well about Reign of Terror and also all other events after that.

Reflections: Today, we talk about our product that we first planned to make a short film.
So we talk about what we what our film to look like. We also planned about the duration
of the film so we can start on thinking deeper on the plot.
