LESSON EVALUATION SHEET

In what ways, if any, did the lesson deviate from the lesson plan?

The lesson overall stuck to the lesson plan. It remained well paced and discussion was
redirected to the topic of smoking. Students worked well on the reflective questions when
required.

How did students respond to the lesson content, activities and learning environment?

Students were engaged throughout the lesson content. They were very surprised to see
the changes in how smoking is represented in the media, especially advertising. Most
were also surprised that they did not realise in cinema smoking was still very prevalent,
but just represented through rebel teens.

How well did students meet the learning outcomes and how did you assess this?

Student met the learning outcomes quite well, this was determined by the feedback
during discussion and brainstorm sessions as well as from the answers put into their
individual workbooks.

What learning and teaching strategies did you use and how did they affect learning?

I used a lot of group and class discussion in between videos and reflective writing.
Workgroups were encouraged to brainstorm and share ideas which overall created a high
level of engagement for the whole class. In the future I would like to incorporate more
interactive exercises relevant to smoking.

What strategies did you use to maintain class discipline and motivation?

I used positive reinforcement. When students raised their hand to speak, I positively
reinforced that they were following class procedures which in turn made others follow
class procedures.
At times just reminded them to calm down and listen to classmates feedback.
