ABSTRACT

Tuti Alawiyah. 2017. Experiencing the electricity generated onion as an alternative energy
biobaterai. Research report. Physics education program, Graduate Program of Universiats
Negeri Semarang. Advisor. Sulhadi and Dr. Mahardika Prasetya Aji.

Keywords: electrical properties, onion, electrolyte solution.

The utilization of chemical, air and acidity of onions does not only serve as a flavor enhancer
of cooking and onions can be a source of alternative electric energy biob batteries. The nature
of electrical properties on the onion can be seen from the presence. The measured and flame
LEDs are connected to the circuit using onion as an alternative source of electrical energy.
Treatment in H2SO4 solution by varying the duration of immersion and percentage of
H2SO4 solution. The electrical firm at the maximum immersion period in this study was 12
hours with 0.758 V with percentage of solution of 4% and 0.793V at 8% percentage. At
minimum immersion for 3 hours, the onion voltage is 0,552 V at 4% H2SO4 percentage and
0,572 V at 8% H2SO4 percentage. The results showed that there was soaking and percentage
of H2SO4 solution.

The utilization of chemical, water and acidity of onions does not only serve as a flavor
enhancer but onions can be a source of alternative electric energy bio batteries. Identification
of electrical properties of onions can be seen from the measured electrical voltage and the
LED flame connected to the circuit using onions as an alternative source of electrical energy.
Electrical voltage measurements were performed after the onions were soaked in H2SO4
solution by varying the duration of the immersion and the percentage of H2SO4 solution.
Electrical voltage at the maximum immersion time in this study is 12 hours of 0,823 V with
percentage of solution 4% and 1,130 V at 8% percentage. At minimum soaking for 3 hours,
the electric voltage on the onion is 0,561 V at 4% H2SO4 percentage and 0,745 V at 8%
H2SO4 percentage. The results showed that the duration of immersion and percentage of
H2SO4 solution affected the electrical voltage on the onion.
