About Wyse vWorkspace 8.6.3

vWorkspace manages, provisions, and brokers connections, transforming the desktop infrastructure into an on-
demand service with optimized user experience for LAN and WAN. vWorkspace delivers virtual applications and
desktops from multiple hypervisors, Remote Desktop Session Host (Terminal Servers) and blade PCs through a
single user access point and management center.
vWorkspace 8.6.3 is a minor release, with enhanced features and functionality. See Whats New and Resolved
issues.
vWorkspace Monitoring and Diagnostics
vWorkspace Monitoring and Diagnostics is a software application used for monitoring virtual desktops.
vWorkspace Monitoring and Diagnostics enables both new and experienced users to significantly reduce the
mean time to resolution (MTTR) of issues within virtual desktop environments by increasing their visibility into
those frequently changing environments. It provides diagnostic details about servers and other components,
historical trending information, and highly informative alerts and graphs.

Release Notes
Upgrade and compatibility
The following is a list of items to be reviewed prior to an installation or upgrade to vWorkspace 8.6.3 Release.
Language Support
To support Traditional Chinese, the vWorkspace Connection Broker requires Traditional Chinese (Hong Kong)
language pack.
Monitoring and Diagnostics
The Monitoring and Diagnostics role can be upgraded using the vWorkspace Installer. Refer to the vWorkspace
Administration Guide for detailed steps about upgrade process.
Seamless Windows
With seamless windows, using different Windows Themes between the Windows access device and the
remote desktop can cause problems with the buttons used for minimizing, restoring, and maximizing
windows. We strongly recommend you use the same or a very similar theme in your remote and local
Windows configurations whenever using the seamless windows functionality.
When using RemoteFX in seamless applications, the RemoteFX display resolution and monitor layout
needs to match or exceed the display resolution and monitor layout of the client access device.
Microsoft App-V
Servers version 4.6 or later must be trusted for delegation in Active Directory. When importing
applications from the App-V server, you will receive an error message stating that you need to check the
App-V server URL, user name, and password if the trusted relationship does not exist.
Web Access
In Web Access, published application names that include any of the characters : <, >, |, *, , " , and /\
cannot be launched due to an issue with Microsoft ASP.NET. If the name needs to contain any of these
characters, specify that name in the Display name setting in the vWorkspace Management Console,
Managed Application Properties.
In Web Access, credentials pass-through does not work with Mozilla Firefox unless Firefox is configured
to use Integrated Windows authentication.

To configure Firefox to use Integrated Windows authentication

1 Open Firefox.
2 Type about:config in the address bar.
3 Type network.automatic in the filter box once the config page loads.
4 Modify network.automatic-ntlm-auth.trusted-uris by double-clicking the row, and enter
www.mydomain.com.
5 Repackage browser.xpi, and use the extracted setup to install Firefox.

Product licensing
To activate a purchased commercial license
1 Copy the file to your Desktop, or to another convenient location.
2 If you have not installed vWorkspace, run the Setup program to install the software.
3 When you start the vWorkspace Console for the first time, a Software Improvement Program window is
displayed, asking whether you'd like to be part of that program.
4 After making your choice, the Licensing page is displayed.

Wyse vWorkspace 8.6.3

4
Release Notes
5 Click the Add License button.
6 Select your license file.
7 Click OK.
NOTE: You can also use the vWorkspace Management Console to add license files. Select File| Licensing to
display the Licensing page. This page can be used for adding and upgrading licenses as well as reviewing
your existing license details. The Licensing page provides two tabs for license files, License 1 and License
2, for the special case where you have a an Enterprise license and a Desktop license and want to use both
simultaneously.

Product licensing for Monitoring and Diagnostics

vWorkspace Monitoring and Diagnostics includes a licensing capability that restricts access to only those
features that are defined in the license file. A server installation requires a license file that provides access to
the server-specific part of the browser interface and the features associated with it.
Please refer to vWorkspace Monitoring and Diagnostics Administration Guide for installing and managing
vWorkspace Monitoring and Diagnostics licenses using the Manage Licenses dashboard.
