Dear Red Room Families,

As many of you know, I am a graduate student at West Chester University, working on a

Masters of Education in Early Childhood Education. The culminating piece of earning this
degree is completing a research assignment. I have chosen to complete this assignment on
parent communication.
For the next eight weeks, I would like to include my red room parents in my project to
help improve communication between home and school. During this time period, I will be
asking you to complete 2-3 surveys. I will then use the information provided in those surveys to
improve upon our communication. I will also be collecting data during this time related to the
number of times we communicate and the method in which we communicate. As I collect
surveys and data, all information will be kept confidential and no names will be used in my work.
There are no risks anticipated with your participation in this project. Participation is
completely voluntary and I will communicate with parents regardless of participation in this
project. This project will not interfere with our current communication and will only be used to
further enhance our communication.
Upon completion, the results of this project will be posted on a website that is utilized in
my Early Childhood Researcher course. On this website, no actual names will be used to
ensure confidentiality. This website will be private and will only be viewable by my classmates
and professor. Pictures and videos of children and parents will not be included in this project.
Please indicate below if you are willing to participate in this project. Participation
includes completing 2-3 surveys over an 8 week period. You can decline to participate at any
point during the project. If you decide not to participate after receiving a survey, please discard
the survey.
Please return one copy of this completed form to me as soon as possible. The second
