LETTERS OF INTENT

CLASS OF 2021 OFFICERS ELECTION

LAUREN E. SAMADEEN
President Candidate
Dear future pharmacists,
My name is Lauren Samadeen, and I am running for the Class of 2021 President position.
Throughout my academic career, I have taken proactive leadership positions in several clubs.
Prior to entering pharmacy school, I was a certified technician for Publix pharmacy for four years.
During this time, I had many interactions with patients, doctors, insurance representatives and
other pharmacy staff. This exposure enabled me to develop my communication and
interpersonal skills. I have always felt the urge to contribute my time to bettering my community
and volunteered 1500+ hours at Florida Hospital Wesley Chapel. The volunteering assignments
ranged from washing dishes, assisting with the flow of the dietary department, transporting
patients, helping the pharmacy deliver medications, assisting Human Resources set up for various
events and running errands for the nurses at their respective stations. These experiences at the
hospital enriched my life and my passion for helping others, which in turn has led me here. This
previous summer I also volunteered my time to tutoring high school students in Biology who
were at risk of dropping out. I served as an ambassador at my Community Colleges Honor
Society, and was also involved in the Pre-Pharmacy Club at the University of Central Florida. All
of these allowed me to meet people of different backgrounds, to understand and appreciate
issues from their perspective, and gain valuable insights into compromise and problem solving.

I am eager to get to know all of you, and develop friendships with you during the next 4 years.
I am constantly striving to help those around me, and if elected I promise I will work with you to
rectify any issues you may have. I look forward to the prospect of working together and being
part of one of the best Pharmacy graduating classes LECOM has ever produced.

Sincerely,

Lauren E. Samadeen

ASHLIE WILSON
Vice President Candidate
Dear classmates,
My name is Ashlie Wilson and Im running for Vice President for the Class of 2021. I am confident
that I can bring to this position confidence, dedication, and creative insight.
Prior to attending LECOM, I had the greatest opportunity to obtain my Certified Nurse Assistant
License and have worked countless hours aiding in communal healthcare. Shortly after obtaining
my license, I then began a position at a retail healthcare clinic where I assumed the role as a
Cultural Council Representative. With this role I was able to discuss with my fellow healthcare
coworkers as to what improvements could be made to the workplace. I then proceeded as the
ultimate mediator between upper level management and my fellow coworkers to discuss
developments that could be made. I believe that through this position alone it has provided me
with the determination, integrity and focus needed for this Vice President position. I have always
had a passion for helping anyone I possibly can and I will make it my duty to assure each of my
classmates voices will be heard. I have acquired firsthand experience in this position, as I am also
the Vice President of the Employee Organization at Costco Wholesale, where I am currently
employed. My organizational ability is strongly reflected in my attention to detail and
management of multiple tasks. I am looking for a challenging and responsible role where my
experience and knowledge can be enhanced and utilized effectively. It is through these
leadership positions I have obtained in my past that I believe that I could bring a diverse
component to this election.
I am sincerely devoted to the needs of each and every one of you and would be honored to
represent you all as your class of 2021 Vice President. I am always open to hear new ideas, and
will never miss an opportunity to expand my knowledge in anything you come to me with. I am
excited to create lifelong friendships with each one of you throughout these years. Thanks for
your time and consideration.

Best regards,
Ashlie Wilson

MELVIN ORAMA
Secretary/Treasurer Candidate
Dear classmates,
My name is Melvin Orama and Im running for Secretary/Treasurer for the Class of 2021.
My desire to be proactive and my leadership background is what led me to this decision.

Before pharmacy school, I worked as a pharmacy technician for 5 years. More than two years of
them were as lead, supervising and training employees, buying drugs to maintain stock inventory,
and delivering prescription volume statistics as well as income and expenses reports. Through
this experience I developed organizational and administrative abilities, plus dealing with patients
reinforced my communication skills. I also served as President of the Youth Council in a church,
managing budget, raising funds, and coordinating activities. In college, I became Tutor of Sciences
for the Upward Bound Math & Science program. This experience allowed me to expand even
more my leadership and communication capabilities since I was in charge of tutoring high school
students, and mentoring them through their scientific investigations.

I believe I can use all this knowledge and experience to represent you all and be a liaison between
our class and the faculty/administration. Im a very approachable person, and Ill make sure that
everyones concerns and ideas are heard and taken into consideration.

Best regards,

Melvin Orama

JOEL M. MESSINA
Class Representative Candidate

Hi class, Im very excited to be running for class representative! As you may know, an aliquot is a
portion of a larger whole, and I would like to represent that larger whole which is you guys. In
pharmaceutics, the aliquot method requires a few steps which takes time and patience, two
things I have plenty of, and Im single. So, first things first, we must weigh out an appropriate
amount of drug to deliver a desired therapeutic effect-our thoughts and concerns. Then we need
to weigh out diluent or a class consensus of those thoughts and concerns. Now all we have to do
is mix those together, and weigh out your aliquot to present to the faculty and staff which I really
hope will be me. Hopefully this helped in your study efforts.

I believe Ive already made my efforts known through the class petition that was organized at the
beginning of the semester for unassigned seating. This class is very special to me, and I would
love the opportunity to let it speak for itself. Thank you all!
