STEP 2 ANALYSIS

STEP 3 ANALYSIS

The prices of the stocks invested in and the DJIA rose and fell almost perfectly. However this dos no mean that they are
interdependent with each other, each stock has its own ups and downs and if they do coincide with the DJIA then it could merely a
coincidence. How the stocks do is purely due to how the company itself is performing and how much people decide to invest in it. The
stock price of a company is determined by the overall worth of the company divided by the shares outstanding however investors see
the DJIA as a benchmark as to how the stock market is going. Therefore if investors see that the DJIA is falling they might sell the
stock they are currently holding which might result in more supply than demand ultimately making the price of the stock fall. Vice-
versa if investors see that the DJIA is rising they might feel that the market is doing good and start buying shares which will
incidentally drive the share price up due to high demand.

PART 4 ANALYSIS

EBay and PayPal were connected on the stock market but decided to split on 2015 due to differences in goals. EBay is an online
business that sells products, whereas PayPal decided to change shifts and try something new. PayPal now focuses more on proving
digital payment services, such as, Xoom transfer payments overseas and peer-to-peer money transfers. This split in companies has
benefited PayPal but not EBay. EBay, just like many other competitors on the internet, offer similar services, which has negatively
impacted them. EBay has lost its uniqueness, which is reflected on its stocks. For instance, on January 28, 2016, a few months after
the split of both companies, the price of eBay stocks has lost nearly 15%. The opening price on January 28 was $26.71, but after the
market closed that day, the stock fell to $22.40, resulting in 13.46% drop. Now, if we focus on eBay stock prices from February 27,
2017 through March 6, 2017, one can see the same recurrence. The opening price for February 27 was $34.05 and when the market
closed on March 6, the stock price fell to $33.64. This 1.20% decrease is not as dramatic as it was a year ago but it seems that the split
between companies and lack of uniqueness is still affecting eBay until today.
