Dear Mr. Alburger,

In my Pride paper I will be researching engineering because engineering is a topic that really
interests me. Also, engineering is a major I have considered studying in college. Since I am
entertaining engineering as a major, I hope this paper and research really helps me determine
what path I am to take. The focus of the paper is to explain engineering as a whole including the
different branches of engineering. So far, the sources I have found have been very useful to
frame my paper.

In my paper, I will explain the history of engineering, the education needed to major in
engineering, the different fields of engineering, history of the different types of engineering, the
requirements needed to be an engineer, the salary a person in the field obtains, women engineers
and their success, and the day to day life of an engineer. I would like this paper to help me
determine which type of engineering I should focus on and if I would like majoring in
engineering at all.

I have decided that my mentor will be Jamie Bishop. He is the Director of Engineering at
IOMAX USA, Inc. IOMAX is a company in Mooresville that manufactures light attack ISR
airplanes for our allies in the Middle East that are used to fight the global war on terror. For my
product, I will work with Jamie on an issue identified by him that improves the airplane through
an engineering process. During my mentor hours, I want to gain a lot of knowledge from a
person that is actually in the field. I would like to experience and learn what it means to be an
engineer. I hope after I complete my mentor hours and my product, I can decide fully if
engineering is for me.

I have read Pine Lakes ethics guide and understand that plagiarism either intentional or
unintentional will result in a zero on my paper.
