Lesson # 8 Business Plan Effective Presentations

Class # 17,18,19,20
Leading Questions What are some of the effective presentation rules?
How can I use these rules to pitch my small business idea to potential
investors?
Scenario Using proper presentation etiquette, format, and style, create a power point
presentation that could be used to pitch your business idea to potential
investors. In the presentation you should explain: the need and initial demand
for the business product or service (why do people want what your business
provides?), production level and pricing strategy (Depending on how much
you charge, how much do you think you will sell? Do you think your sales will
change depending on what you charge?), growth projections (Considering the
future how much will the business grow?), financing requirements both
current and ongoing (what are initial startup costs? Show a breakdown. how
much money made will be reinvested into your business once it is going?),
marketing strategy (where and who should advertising be targeted at?),
Human Resource plan (is it just you working? Or are others involved?),
Business Strengths (how you will leverage them?), Business Weaknesses (how
you can mitigate them?), Business Opportunities (And how you can explore
them?), Business Threats (what can be done to avoid them?). Your
presentation should be between 10 and 15 slides long covering the above
information, and other information you think a potential investor would like
to know. Remember your job is to sell the potential investor, and make
them want to invest in your business. However, you must also be realistic

If done properly, presentations can be very enjoyable. What are some things you like about
presentations? What are some things you do not like about Presentations?
There are some common mistakes people make when creating presentations:
https://www.slideshare.net/jessedee/you-suck-at-powerpoint/2-
Approximately_350_PowerPoint_presentations_are

When you are creating your business plan presentation why would you need to be careful
not to make these mistakes?
What did you think of the 5 main mistakes? (Most are easy to make)

Six Main things to remember when creating a presentation:

-Organize an outline of the topic and separate it into sections, like introduction, body,
conclusion

CTF Detailed Challenge Guide Computer 8
-Appearance, choose one or two simple fonts that are easy to read, make sure the colour
works in contrast to your background. Use a simple background that does not take away
from the content of your project.
-Animations are a good attention getter, as long as they mix into the presentation well and
are not overdone, use them to introduce the slide.
-Slides. Do not have more than 10 slides in a presentation, keep the slides simple with only
key points showing.
-Pictures & Video, Showing pictures and video to go with the topic can hold attention for
even longer but too many pictures can be overwhelming for the reader.
-Review before Presenting When everything is completed, ask yourself if this presentation
interests you, will the reader be interested?

Look at:
