The course uses a mixture of taught sessions,
interactive group discussions, exercises,
continuous assessment and examination to
achieve its aims.
PRE-REQUISITES
Completion of secondary education.
An understanding of report writing
desirable.
A basic knowledge of OH&S issues and the
requirements of BS OHSAS 18001:2007
would be beneficial. Those who are not
familiar with the purpose and intent of the
standard are advised to attend a foundation
course on the subject. Those prospective
delegates, who have already attended any
other 5 day IRCA lead auditor course, may
find the 3 day OHSAS auditor conversion
course more appropriate.

CONTENTS
Introduction to concepts underpinning the
occupational health and safety management
Review of BS OHSAS 18001:2007
Similarities with OHSAS 18001, ISO14001 &
ISO 9001
OH & S Management Issues including
operational control
H & S Audit Skills
Practical exercises and feedback.
There is a two-hour examination for this
course. Delegates will also be assessed on the
basis of their progress throughout the
exercises. Delegates who successfully
complete both the examination and the
continuous assessment will be awarded a
certificate of Successful Completion and will
satisfy the formal training requirements for
IRCA OH&SMS Auditor Certification scheme.
