Member & Sponsor Contract

LEASING PROGRAM
Objectives of Livestock Projects:

1. To develop character, knowledge and a sense of responsibility in FFA members.

2. To provide opportunities to work and care for livestock {cattle, pigs, etc.} as Supervised
Agricultural Experiences for active FFA members.

3. To maintain or increase the number of FFA members active on the Livestock Show Team.

4. To build community relationships for students in the livestock industry.

Guidelines:

1. The Leasing Program pertains to livestock of the following species:


Beef Cattle
o Heifer or Steer
o Registered or Commercial
Dairy Cattle
Swine

2. The program is available to active Oconee County FFA members, hereafter referred to as
the lessee,in good standing at Jasper County High School.

3. The lessee is required to attend all Oconee County FFA Meetings to receive information
and updates from the Livestock Show Team.

4. The lessee is also encouraged to attend bi-monthly Piedmont Cattlemens Meetings to


stay in touch and up to date with the beef industry and community.

5. The lessee will be required to keep a project record on each animal exhibited.
a. The record book will be kept with the students belongings at the barn and will be
available to both the FFA advisor and sponsor of project at all times.
b. Record books will be checked by the FFA advisor every two weeks for complete
and accurate records.
c. The lessee must submit a complete record book to his or her FFA advisor by the
end of February 2016.

6. The leased animal must be a bona fide project. A lease agreement must be completed for
each animal leased during the year.

5. The owner, hereafter referred to as the sponsor, will jointly determine with
the lessee specific responsibilities to be carried out by the lessee. The responsibilities will
be recorded on the Lease Agreement and will list items such as:
The lessees duties and responsibilities while working with the animal at
the barn
A working schedule for carrying out the specific duties
o Daily & Weekly
o Show Schedule
Financial responsibilities of the project
Any assistance the sponsor will provide to the lessee

6. During the contract year, the lessee will exhibit the leased animal in a minimum of one
show per month beginning in September 2017 and ending in February 2018. If unable to
attend one of the agreed upon shows, a minimum of one month notice will be given to
both the sponsor and advisor. If the lessee desires to enter into more than the agreed
shows, approval must be given in the form of writing one month before show and
presented to the advisor.

7. The leased animal will be housed and maintained at the Oconee County Agricultural
Education Barn located at 2721 Hog Mountain Rd. Watkinsville, GA 30677, unless
otherwise noted and agreed upon with sponsor.

8. The title of ownership of the leased animal will remain in the possession of the sponsor,
unless otherwise agreed upon for all commercial animals. For registered livestock, the
sponsor will transfer the title of ownership, as stated on the registration certificate, to
the lessee, for the registered showing purpose. Transfer of ownership will be reversed
from the lessee back to the sponsor at the conclusion of the livestock show season.

9. The sponsor will make the animal available to the lessee during the period of the Lease
Agreement. Lease agreement start date will begin when the animal arrives at the Oconee
County Agricultural Education Barn.

10. The sponsor of the leased animal agrees not to hold the lessee liable for any financial loss
from injury or death to the leased animal as long as lessee has maintained proper care for
animal.

11. If the result of animal injury or death comes from proven neglect, abusive, or malicious
actions from the lessee, sponsor is entitled to financial reimbursement for vet bills,
transportation, and/or replacement of animal (based on proven financial value of animal
at time of injury/death).

12. The sponsor is not responsible for financial liability from any injury that the

lessee may incur while working with the leased animal. This includes any injuries that
may occur while on sponsors farm, at the Oconee County Agricultural Education barn or
any/ all livestock shows and events.

13. The lessee is responsible for all expenses incurred in exhibiting the animal,
such as veterinarian, hoof trimming, show materials and other miscellaneous
expenditures unless otherwise noted on Lease Agreement.

14. The lessee may keep any premiums or awards while exhibiting the animal during the
duration of the contract.

15. The lessee agrees to follow all care and feed requests of the sponsor.

16. If lessee is unable to feed or care for animal at required times, the lessee will notify the
advisor and sponsor so that care can be given.

17. The lessee will not rely on other exhibitors to feed/ care for animal unless approval from
sponsor and advisor is given.

18. The lessee will report directly to the FFA advisor in charge of project. Advisor in charge is
Mrs. Chelsea Begnaud or Mr. John Collins.

19. The lessee agrees to follow the guidance of the advisor and sponsor at all times related
to the project. If at any time lessee needs clarification of rules, routines or requests, the
lessee is responsible to seek clarification.

20. The Lease Agreement must be signed and filed with the FFA advisor before any work may
be done with leased animal by lessee. Copies of complete contracts will be given to
lessee and sponsor by the FFA advisor.

21. The Lease Agreement will remain in force until the end of the project year or until
terminated by any party involved (lessee, sponsor or advisor). All parties involved reserve
the right to terminate the project at any time during season. If termination is desired, all
parties involved MUST be notified. If project is terminated, it is the responsibility of the
terminating party to have the animal removed from Oconee County Agricultural
Education Barn within three (3) days of notification of termination.

22. The sponsor and advisor reserve the right to terminate the Lease Agreement with no
explanation due to lessee.

23. Termination of Lease could be due to, but not limited, to the following reasons:
Failure of lessee to carry out responsibilities as outlined in the Lease

Agreement
Failure of lessee to abide by Oconee County School Systems rules and
expectations.
Changes in the farming or financial situation of the sponsor

24. The Lease Agreement, must be signed by the sponsor, lessee, a parent or legal guardian
of the lessee, and the FFA advisor. Lack of any of the above signatures will result in the
Lease Agreement being voided and sponsorship will cannot be carried out.

The Lease Agreement will remain in force until the end of the project year or until terminated by
either party as stated in the Guidelines of the Leasing Program.
