Precious Movie Review
1. Learning Style/Teaching Style that you recognize
Ms. Blue was a great teacher as she realized how Precious learned. She conformed to
her standards, as she could tell where her level was. She also taught her kinesthetically,
auditorily, and visually.
2. How has technology changed?
Technology in this movie was barely used, where in modern times technology could be
one of the greatest tools for education. It has evolved to a point where Precious wouldnt
need her mothers full attention and permission to get her education.
3. How to engage students/classroom management?
Ms. Blue was great at her management, as she made sure all her students were
comfortable and motivated to go to her class. She knew how to engage all of them into
their work to where they would look forward to it.
4. Hollywood vs Reality
The reality is that not every student who goes through what Precious does isnt able to get
all the attention that Precious got from schools. In Precious situation, she had numerous
people from the education department doing their best to convince Precious to follow up
with her education, where in reality, not many would go to that extent unfortunately.
5. Student Interaction
In this situation, all the students understood that all of them went under adversity. The
teacher made this clear as she made an environment where they could all be comfortable
with each other. This could cause them to motivate and teach each other.
6. Stereotyping
The African-American stereotype is heavily integrated in this movie. However, it is
reversed as it shows theyre true struggles, as well as how hard it is to just be successful

when everyone is against you.
7. Parent interact/involvement
Precious mother was not involved at all with her education, while her and the father
the antagonists of her life instead of Precious motivators. This shows that no teacher can
truly know what goes on in a student's life, but could still change it.
8. Diversity in the classroom community
The classroom Precious is in has diversity as it has different races and even includes a
student with special needs. Ms. Blue still did her job effectively as no matter what her
curriculum included, all students were immersed in it.
9. Was the movie impacted through education?
Yes, Precious probably wouldnt have the motivation for success without the education
Ms. Blue gave her. At the same time, her education caused a chain reaction in her life,
she finally got control in her life to get rid of her mother and take care of her baby.
10. Teacher Bias
There was some sort of notion against the students being comfortable with their teacher.
It wasnt until Ms. Blue showed how lovable she was that she could get rid of the teacher
bias.
11. Is teaching applicable?
Yes teaching is applicable. This is because this movie can be related to a huge range of
an audience while captivating people into what education is, and what its real purposes
are.
12. What did you personally learn or gain from this selection?
I learned that the best kind of teacher is one that has an attitude and curriculum made for
all types of people, for all positive purposes, with all types of backgrounds, and with all
methods available.
