 "How can we best serve the Kihei community with a total budget of TEN MILLION
DOLLARS ($10,000,000)?"
The county of Maui is dealing with a serious homeless crisis. What is an authentic solution to our

everyday problem? Awareness and compromise are essential when addressing this issue. With ten million

dollars our group would create a homeless renewal program perpetuating community engagement and

cultural education.

The property would be 100% sustainable. Energy generated from PV, photovoltaic systems. Water from the

laundry and showers will be recycled.

A community garden supplying those working/living on the property.

Non profit organization offering free lunch and food to anyone volunteering.

Money will be generated by outreach programs, and donations.

Center will be located where homeless populus is abundant, Kihei.(point in time count January 2015 896)

Maui beach and park cleanups, open to the public, will happen twice a week.
Mission Statement:

The goal of this foundation would be to rehabilitate those in need,

through transitional shelter, therapy ( and emergency personal needs (food,

clothing, hygiene.) Through rehabilitations, beach cleanups, sustainability,

and community engagement, success cases from the organization will help

perpetuate activity, awareness, and education of Hawaiian culture and the

importance of restoration throughout the Maui community.

Layout of Homeless Camp
The property would be in 0 E Waipuilani Rd, Kihei,7.22 acres. We would house 80 people free of

drugs and weapons on their person. They would live in shipping containers separated into two rooms, with

two people in each room. (Dimension of container: 10 feet width, 40 feet long, and 9 feet tall) The roof of

the to of shipping containers, would be paneled with PV units. The front of the property would have two

entrances and a check in station There would be 20 outside showers (located on the back of the two therapy

containers), and 10 composting toilets. In the courtyard, a community vegetable garden and mess hall.

20 containers, 5 rows stacked 4 high, for housing.

3 would house the kitchen and mess hall, raised by bricks to create an opening closure next to the

garden

The remaining two would be used for therapy and meeting rooms.
Written Proposal:
This proposal is to the mayor and city council of Maui, to take responsibility for all of the
citizens health and wellness in the county of Maui. This proposal will provide an
explanation as to why there is a problem needing to be addressed in the community, and
how our group would plan to solve it.

Acceptance of this proposal will provide the county of Maui with a greater population of
self realization, cultural wellness and awareness. The program will provide emergency and
transitional shelter, rehabilitation and integration for homeless people in the area.
