COGNITIVE OBSERVATION

Part A -
For this section, observe a child between the age of 4 12 months.

1.
a. Child one is sitting in a high chair and begins to pound on the tray.
When the caregiver turns around to ask him why is he pounding, the infant opens
and closes his fist.
b. I think the child is during stage 4th, new adaptation and anticipation.

2. One of the main things to give to an infant during lunchtime could be a spoon.
By providing an infant a spoon, he or she will imitate the caregiver by giving the
appropriate use of the tool.

3. After the teacher feeds the infant, she pours a small amount of yogurt inside
the container and offers it to the infant. The infant tries to put the spoon inside his
mouth.

Part B
For this section, observe a child between the ages of 13 19 months.
1. a. Child two was playing with a red foam ball. There was a small basketball
court. The child tried to put the ball inside the basket without letting go of it.
b. I think this child is in stage VI - 18 - 24 months - new means through
mental combinations.

2. The caregiver might offer help to the child by learning to throw the ball. The
child might be provided with a bigger ball that will be easier for him to throw.

3. The teacher was graving other toys and throwing them in basket.

Part C
For this section, you will be utilizing a child between the ages of 20 27 months
(include exact age of child observed).
1. The child I observe was a young boy of 24 months old. He decided to play with
the wooden solid blocks. The caregiver began building a small tower of three
blocks and the child proceed to add more blocks to the tower. He is in the fifth
stage of Piaget - Developmental Achievement of the Construction of the Object in
Space under spatial arrangements.

2. I would offer plastic blocks and encourage building walls or a square. Also, we
can separate the blocks by color. We can throw the blocks and find the difference
between something that is round and it will roll and something that is flat and it
wont roll.
