PGDM - TQM
Group Project

The group project takes the form of analyzing business processes in an organization and using
the appropriate quality tools to formulate improvement suggestions. This assesses the students'
ability to apply the theory and concepts in a practical real-life situation.

Your class has been divided into seven groups of five members each. The organization you choose
could even be your institution (RCBS) or a subunit of it. You are required to carry out a thorough
analysis of the process/situation/problem in the organization/subunit, collect relevant data
pertaining to the same and propose recommendations.

Ideally, your report and presentation should demonstrate a systematic analysis of the organizations
situation/process/problem (including quality systems in place), appropriately incorporate TQM
concepts and tools and propose specific, actionable recommendations.

The oral presentation of your group's analysis and recommendations will be of 30-minute duration.
In planning your oral presentation, your group should assume the role of a team of management
consultants presenting their findings to the organizations Chief Executive Officer. The rest of the
class will assume the role of company executives and employees. By the end of your presentation,
the company's CEO should: (a) have a clear action agenda, and (b) equally importantly, know
precisely what directives to give during the next management meeting.

A hard copy of the project in a brief report format should be submitted prior to the presentation. It
is important that each member of the group contribute equally not only in the preparation for the
presentation, but also in the actual class presentation and the question-and-answer session.

The date for project presentation will be will be intimated to you as the class progresses.
