Fellowship. The AmericanFolklore Societyhas announced
the foundingof the Jo StaffordFellowshipin AmericanFolklore.The fel-
lowship is announced for the academic year 1954-1955 and annually there-
after,and providesa sumof$300 forresearchin Americanfolklore,including
libraryresearchas well as field collecting.Details of the fellowshipare
publishedin the January-Marchnumberof the JournalofAmericanFolk-
lore. Chairman of the judging committeeis ProfessorWayland D. Hand
of the Universityof Californiaat Los Angeles,who has announcedFebruary
15 as the deadline forapplicationsforthe firstaward of the Stafford
fellow-
ship.
