Examples of these kinds of systems are aiready used for elections to devolved assemblies in Northern Ireland, ‘Scotland, Wales and Landon, When parliaments reflect the voters, ‘they make better decisions. Political scientists have found countries with PR perform better in a wide range of ways: greater Income equality, etter onge-term planning and politcal stability, fairer representation of women and minorities higher voter turnout better environmental laws and faster action on imate change. PR countries also have a significantly lower likelihood of engaging in armed conflict -in fact, First Past the Post isthe single strongest institutional predictor that a democracy will 30 to war. A recent poll found that 679 think seats should match votes, with ust 129 opposed. Here's how we'll win PR If we're going to fh our democracy, we need You and thousands of ethers to get involved. We all need to make fixing our broken ‘emacracy a key political issue. Local groups all ‘over the country are taking action in their ‘communities: talking to the publi, holding public meetings ancl lobbying their MPS. \We need to bring together all the partis, ‘organisations and public figures who want PR to work together. The PR Alliance already includes many parties, democracy organisations, and celebrities like Brian Eno, Carey Mulligan, Frankle Boyle, Nigel Farage and Zoe Wiliams, We also need to persuade one of the two biggest parties to back fair votes. Many senior Figures in Labour and even some Conservatives Support PR. With public pressure end through the democratic processes of these partes, we ‘need to help them win this debate.
