Now let me share more about the meaning of this years ANC
design. The different shade of blue colours on the design
signifies peace and also our JCI colour. It also symbolises the
many races in our country and how we can live in harmony.

Greetings
I wish to extend a very warm welcome to all delegates of the JCI Malaysia
42nd Annual National Convention to Miri, Sarawak.
The future of our country lies with our youths. That is why the Malaysian government has drawn
up and implements various development, sports and education programs including setting up of
vocational colleges, training institutes and tertiary facilities which offer opportunity for our youths
to enhance their human capacity. However, the opportunities provided by the government may not
as yet reach our youths in the suburban and rural areas. This is where JCI members, through your
out-reach programs, projects and activities, can help to disseminate information on the types of
skilled training or tertiary courses available and how to apply for them.
My long association with JCI movement has shown me that JCI members are proactive, positive
and confident. They have undertaken projects which benefitted the youths and local community as
a whole. I therefore urge all JCI members to cooperate and support our governments initiatives to
transform the economy and provide a better future for our nation and its rakyat.
I am proud that Ms Huang Hui Chen of JCI Lutong and her organizing committee members have
accepted the challenge of organizing this national level convention in Miri and I wish to congratulate
them for doing a good job. I am certain that all the delegates will participate fully in the three-day
program and will come up with solutions to current issues affecting youths and draw up projects
which will benefit the community.

Greetings
My 23 years long association with JCI Lutong as the chapter patron has seen the chapter playing
its active role in organising projects which are benefiting the youth and Miri Community as a whole.
Being a worldwide youth voluntary body, JCI members have the opportunity to be trained and
learn for themselves all the necessary leadership skills and knowledge which will be useful for them
in this competitive world, whether in their career, business or social life.
JCI is an organization which plays an important role in preparing the young generation of today to
become the future leaders of tomorrow through various training programs, individual development
and community activities, management opportunities as well as business networking. With such
an extensive network, members will be able to gain access to limitless opportunity to improve
themselves as well as to create positive change to the nation.

Greetings
How time flies. I still vividly remember that it was end of last year that upon the kind invitation
of the Immediate Past President of JCI Lutong Miss Kueh Sze Ling and her capable ANC 42 JCI
Campaign Team, our Datuk Bandar Adam Yii and I went to Penang and attended the 41st Junior
Chamber International Malaysia Annual National Convention with the thoughts of giving our
strongest support to the Campaign Team. We really enjoyed our stay in Penang. Thank you all for
giving this wonderful opportunity to JCI Lutong with your votes and my heartiest Congratulations
to JCI Lutong.
This is an outstanding event for JCI Lutong as more than 800 delegates from foreign countries
like Philippines, Taiwan, Indonesia, Singapore, West Malaysia, Sabah, Sarawak and the state will
converge at Miri to exchange ideas and share experiences on development of leadership skills,
promote fellowship and entrepreneurship. I am amazed and indeed very impressed.
I would like to congratulate JCI Lutong led by their President Tan Chin Jie, for their great efforts in
taking up the pleasant task and challenge of hosting this National Convention. This shows that Miri
City has the capability in every aspect in holding grand events and national conventions.
I would also like to take this opportunity to wish all the members of the organizing committee of this
Convention, led by the Organising Chairman Huang Hui Chen every success in your undertakings
and to all delegates, a fruitful conference and an enjoyable stay at Miri.

work for making this 2017 JCI Malaysia Annual National Convention a great success. I wish all of
delegates have an exciting, enjoyable and memorable convention in Miri.

AMELIA ROZIMAN
Chief Operating Officer of Sarawak Convention Bureau
Known also as the gateway to the Orang Ulu heartland of Northen Sarawak, Miri has always been
Sarawaks most romanticised destination; with a stones throw away to Niah National Park - one of
the oldest Southeast Asias human settlement dating back at least 40,000 years, as well as home
to Gunung Mulu National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where the worlds largest cave
chamber by surface area, and one of the worlds most extensive cave systems are found.
Beyond the rich tapestry of arts, language and culture weaved by more than 40 sub-ethnic groups,
it is also a destination fertile for Business Events; a city with world class standard amenities for
conferences, meetings, incentives and accommodation.
Through the Sarawak Convention Bureau, we help connect NGOs, corporations and government
bodies with whatever is necessary to make national and international conventions a success in in
Sarawak. We are constantly trying to push the envelope and explore how to make conventions,
unconventional with an element of adventure.
Once again, Selamat Datang. I sincerely hope that you will have the opportunity to share ideas,
gather knowledge and have the best Sarawakian experience at this 42nd JCI Malaysia Annual
National Convention.

Dear members of JCI Malaysia and the national president Nurul Huda who is more passionate than
anyone else,
This year is a year that I will never forget in my life and I will never forget that I have been with you
for the rest of my life.
I would like to remind you of the warmth of your support and encouragement to me who is not
familiar with being a Vice - President and not fluent in English.
I felt and was convinced by seeing projects done by members of JCI Malaysia. Your enthusiasm and
fresh ideas will make the world we live in brighter and brighter.
I have never been familiar with JCI Malaysia before. However, I am now holding JCI Malaysia as the
best example of JCI these days.
I apologise for not being able to attend the national convention, but I look forward to seeing you
at the World Congress in Netherlands. I hope that the national convention will be a good day for
all of you.

Greetings
ARREY OBENSON
2017 JCI SECRETARY GENERAL
Warm greetings to each one of you for this 42nd National Convention!
As young people, the future belongs to you. You must ensure that you are
equipped with the skills necessary for you to become the master of your own destiny today and
ensure that tomorrow is better. As we worked to empower young people this year, remember you
will reap just what you sow. JCI offers you the unique opportunity to develop your skills but more
importantly to exercise and put into practice all of what you learn through your active participation
in activities of positive change.
Too often I hear JCI members say what they expect to gain from their membership in JCI. The
only way you can gain is by getting involved and acting. But as you develop and become more
empowered, understand that you have a responsibility to share your experience with those who
come after you. As you look forward to 2018, I urge you to not only come to JCI to take for yourself
but, to contribute so that others can learn and grow from your experience.
I offer my best wishes to each of you on this occasion of the 42nd JCI Malaysia National Convention.
This is sure to be an exciting and empowering year for the members of JCI Malaysia, as long as
you strive to seek out the challenges in your community and collaborate for positive change. I am
confident with the strong leadership of JCI Malaysia that each member will expand their impact
and develop their capabilities as an active citizen.
Even as we have achieved so much, I am hopeful that as long as we breathe we can accomplish
more, for ourselves, for our communities and for JCI. As an organization, we have accomplished
so much in the last few years, but much remains to be accomplished as we seek to make JCI the
organization that unites all sectors of society to create positive change. I wish you success and
fruitful discussion for your National Convention. I look forward to hearing about the continued
impact of JCI Malaysia!
Sincerely,
Arrey Obenson

Greetings
It is with great pleasure for me to welcome each and every one of you to the 42nd JCI
Malaysia Annual National Convention (JCIM ANC), the largest and record-breaking
Annual National Convention to-date. Thank you to the Conference Organizing
Committee led by Convention Director Hui Chen and Hosting Local Organisation JCI Lutong for your hard
work in hosting this record-breaking and memorable convention for JCI Malaysia this year.
Our sincere appreciation to the various Guest of Honors, Government Ministries, sponsors and partners of
this JCIM ANC, for without you, we will not be able to organize this event at such grand scale. And most
importantly, to all the delegates, you are the reason for us to achieve this new record.
To all fellow JCI members, now that you are here in 2017 JCIM ANC, we need your involvement and action.
The program this year has been devised to provide you with multiple learning, sharing and networking
opportunities. Move around beyond your circle of friends, make new friends, share your thoughts and
knowledge, and learn from each other. You will certainly gain more than you expect by the end of this
convention, and hope you will be inspired to attend future JCI conventions and conferences.
We at the National Office have introduced plenty of new initiatives and new programs this year in line with
the theme CCTV: Courage | Collaborate | Teamwork | Value, as well as realizing the 3 Areas of Focus for 2017
which were Members Development, Sustainable Project, PR and Branding.
Under Members Development, we began the year with the National Officers Training and Leadership
Summit to equip incoming BODs for their role, and launched the JCIM Global Passport to encourage active
involvement of members. We introduced several new trainings namely TTT Phase 2 to train current trainers on
how to develop own module; Event speech writing and delivery training for current VP and Organising Chair;
Media and PR workshop for local members; Online Training Video Contest to encourage more online training
content; Approved the policy for Malaysia Development Council to expand JCI to location without JCI local
organisations; and continue with JCIM Academy, Area Academies and JCI Junior and Youth Academy.
Under Sustainable Projects, we launched the 1st JCIM Sustainable Development Award to raise awareness
on UNSDG and to recognize companies and organisations that help advance SDGs. In conjunction with SEA
Games, we hosted the SEA Games Business Summit which include visit to Air Asia, MDEC, Cyberview, MaGIC
and MK Curtain, with a welcome dinner at Ministry of Youth and Sports hall in Putrajaya. We conducted the
3rd National Partnership Summit and continue to promote UNSDG and Peace is Possible nationwide.
Under PR & Branding, we built awareness about JCI Malaysia not just through our projects, but also through
radio interviews at iM4U.fm and MySuara.fm as well as TV interview on BERNAMA TV and RTM. In addition
we launched JCIM.TV youtube channel which compile all past videos, and promotion videos on JCIM activities
were also launched. We signed twinning with JCI Indonesia and hosted Malaysia Night, both at JCI Asia Pacific
Conference. We produced new merchandise for members and conducted JCIM Open Day to raise awareness
to public. JCI Malaysia FB page have now exceed 11,000 likes. We enhanced the secretariat sustainability by
securing new shared office tenants and continuous promotion of training room rental at JCIM secretariat.
Year 2017 has been amazing, and its all because of your support - National Officers, Area Officers, Local
Officers and members. We encouraged our local organizations to collaborate, resulting to many joint projects
this year. Many local organisations worked hard in achieving the targets set so well done to each of you! For
an organization to survive for 102 years is an amazing feat, hence we should all be proud to be a JCI member.
Keep up the great work and all the best for JCI Malaysia in the near future.

Greetings
It is my great pleasure for me to welcome all of you to Miri Resort City for 42nd
JCI Malaysia Annual National Convention.
I joined JCI in year 2009, I always look forward to the enjoyable Annual National
Convention every year. However, this year I have a different feeling as I need to
carry the responsibility as the Convention Director. It is indeed a very challenging task for me and my
team. However, I strongly believe that with the support and co-operation from you all, I am confident
that together we can make it!!
JCI Lutong hosted Annual National Convention in year 2004 and 2010. After 7 years of interval, we
are taking up the challenge again this year. It is indeed a great honour for us and we, the convention
organising committee, pledge to do our outmost to ensure that all of you will have a memorable and
pleasant convention here in Miri. Just like what 2017 JCIM ANC theme is Where Amazing Happens!
We truly appreciate for the past precious experiences to make this amazing ANC happens in MIRI again!
Despite all the challenges, sometimes even sleepless moments for some of us in the organising
committee, but the team works and spirit of the committee and the determination of wanting to give
the best of what we have in Miri, steer us through all this challenges and slowly moving us closer to our
goal. This fantastic and memorable moments of us, working together and achieving our goal together
will be with us for a very long while to come.
Regardless of what effort we put in the organising, if without the support from all the LOs in JCI Malaysia,
we wont be able to carry out the ANC smoothly. We received the total number of registration more than
800 pax which is the largest delegates in 42 years convention held. I would like to thank all the LOs for
your support, cooperation, patient and understanding they gave to COC in the process of organising
this ANC.
I would also like to thank our National President Nurul and National Secretary General Sean Lim and all
the National Board members for your supports and assistance in making sure that everything goes as
planned.
To all our guest of honors, partners, sponsors, advertisers, volunteers and all the government agencies
who have help us one way or another to make this event a success. I sincerely thank all of you for
your valuable assistances and help to the committee and JCI Lutong. Without all your advices, financial
supports, and contributions, we wont be able to achieve all these.
To all my brothers and sisters in my committee, I do not know how to put it in words or express my
true feeling to you all, for all the efforts, sacrifices and worries in the process of organizing this ANC. I
salute you all for your commitment and unselfish contributions in making sure we give our best in the
organizing of the ANC. Also thanks to our past presidents of JCI Lutong, thanks for your guidance,
advices and financial support.
Last but not least, I would like to wish every one of you have a pleasant stay in Miri and lets have a
wonderful, exciting, interesting and fruitful ANC this year.

Greetings
Welcome to 2017 JCI Malaysia 42nd Annual National Convention (ANC) at Miri,
Sarawak.
I am honored to be the Ex-Officio for this years JCI Malaysia ANC as this is my 6th time attending, and
this years ANC has the largest delegation ever in JCI Malaysia history, as we have reached 800+ delegates
registration thus far.
It has been a pleasure working with hosting LO JCI Lutong under the supervision of Convention Director
Huang Hui Chen. Both Hui Chen and I had known each other well as both of us served as 2016 NVP together.
Such a coincidence as this year, both of us serve under the leadership of National President JCI Senator Nurul-
Huda Mohamed Afandi.
Organizing a conference is never an easy task, whilst having to assist and offer my service to several big events
which took place in this year. 2017 has been the most significant year in my JCI journey, and while our country
celebrate 60 years of gaining independence (Negaraku-Sehati Sejiwa), we also have a chance to be the host
country for 29th Southeast Asian Games (SEA GAMES), and JCI Malaysia hosted the first ever SEA Games
Business Summit. Furthermore, Im also serving as Deputy Delegate for JCI ASPAC in Mongolia, a wild land
that I could never ever dream to visit.
These adventures are indeed a truly rewarding experience for me, and a great opportunity to get insight into
organizing major international events. To the JCI Malaysia ANC Convention Organizing Committee (COC),
though it may feel like an uphill battle sometimes, facing many challenges, rest assured that the satisfaction at
the end will simply be the most rewarding, uplifting and bring priceless memories.
My sincere appreciation to NP Nurul-Huda for the trust and freedom you have given to me in implementing
many new changes and ideas for the ANC program this year, in our efforts to provide more value to all the
delegates present.
2017 would be Simply the Best year ever! We had a wonderful and exciting year, and I thank to all National
Board of Directors & Officers, Local Presidents, Local Secretaries, Past National Presidents and officers, JCI
Senators and Members, for your unending support, caring, loving and sharing throughout the year since being
appointed right after last year ANC. Not to forget my own Local Organization - JCI Kuala Lumpur Mandarin
for endorsing me to pursue for a higher post in this unique organization. Thank you for my family members
who are always so worried that I come back home late and always on the move.
The ANC is indeed a good time for us in the National Board to reflect on what we have done in our year in
office, to review the impact we have created in the lives of members, and also to meet all the members who
have supported us during the year.
It is my upmost pleasure that I am able to serve as your National Secretary General by going through the thick
and thin together. I wish for you to have a fruitful, productive and memorable convention.

Greetings
First of all, I would like to thanks the hosting Chapter JCI Lutong, and JCI
Malaysia for giving me this opportunity to contribute a message for the
souvenir magazine for the 42nd JCI Malaysia Annual National Convention.
For my committees who are able to commit themselves fully during the term, I must say thank you
to you and your support to me as your president and the organization for the term. For those
committees who are unable to commit fully due to your other commitments, I would like to say
thank you to you too as you have given me you fullest support for being part of my team. Without
all of you, our team wont be complete and our term wont be as smooth.
I must thanks JCI Malaysia, through the leadership of our NP Nurul Huda and her team for giving us
the opportunities and her willingness for the collaboration between JCI Malaysia and JCI Malaysia
Senate, in activities and working together for the betterment of JCI movement in Malaysia as in
whole. I would urge both organizations to further strengthen our efforts and collaborations as there
are still a lot areas where both organizations can complement each others in promoting the JCI
movements in Malaysia.
My special thanks and appreciations to all the chapters namely, JCI KK, JCI United Penang, JCI
Seremban and JCI Teluk Intan who hosted us in our board meetings during my term and lastly JCI
Lutong my chapter who always supported me during my term and playing host to board meetings
and the Senate Conference in September 2016.
To all my senators in Malaysia thank you for your support in our activities and your efforts in
organizing and participating in our gathering for senators in all the areas of Malaysia throughout
my term. The fellowship and friendship throughout my term as your president from all of you that I
managed to meet up with is something special that I will treasure for the rest of my life.
To all my advisors and past chairmen of JCI Malaysia Senate thanks for all your supports and
guidances during my term of office as the president.

Greetings
First and very foremost, with great pleasure and honour, I stand here
to address you as JCI Lutong and 42nd JCI Malaysia Annual National
Convention Hosting LO President!
Thank you for giving JCI Lutong a chance to serve the best that we can to all of you. Indeed,
this will be the most unforgettable 24 years in my life. Without a doubt, while taking up as JCI
Lutong and ANC Hosting LO President, one must be brave, committed, dare to social and well-
communicate, which these are the obstacles staying in my mind. Having only 1.5 years of social and
working experience, I am still a raw metal, that required to be mould continuously.
Throughout the past 9 months, theres a lot of feelings underneath. Together, our members average
is only 28 years old, putting in the most effort that we could, participating in 4 area conventions
and ASPAC, to promote ANC to whole Malaysia and other nations. With the passion, we strive
to make a success in JCI Lutong history (2004 and 2010) and also in the 42 years of JCI Malaysia.
However, these results would not have been possible from the strong support from Sarawak Local
Government, Miri City Council, JCI Malaysia National BOD, all Local Organizations, sponsors, JCI
Lutong past presidents and of course this awesome organizing team!
It is the rough road that leads to the height of greatness. Its the progress of countless sleepless
night, different challenges and obstacles, excitement, happiness, memories that lead us to achieve
such results. Heartiest gratitude to Convention Director Huang Hui Chen, and all of the dedicated
committee teams! Hard work paid off!
On behalf of JCI Lutong, I do hope that everyone enjoy these 3 days 2 nights in Miri, the second
largest city in Sarawak, especially for those first timers! Indeed, this awesome convention team
have put on their utmost best efforts and spirits to serve everyone, hence, if we had did something
wrongly, we would like to seek the understanding of all delegates.
Finally, thank you for giving me such unforgettable memories in my presidential journey. I really
feel proud to have all of the 2017 Presidents as counterparts in this journey. We need not daily
conversation and togetherness, as long as our relationships live in true heart. Lets continuously
create more memories in the coming years when we graduated!
Growing Beyond Limits is my 2017 Presidential Theme, which I strongly believe that there is no
limit and border for our individual growth. Hence, to all JCI family members, no matter who you
are, where you are, and what you are fighting for now, never ever doubt yourself as you are capable
of so much more than you think.

taken care of during this few days of ANC. So, thank you for being a wonderful
host to all of us!
