VILLAGE LIFE
GOD MADE THE COUNTRY, BUT MAN MADE THE TOWN. WILLIAM COWPER HUMAN life started from caves and forests. Man
hunted wild animals and life was centered in tribes and groups. These groups joined and formed a bigger centre called a village. Thus
villages became the axis and foundation of human civilization. The role of villages is central because todays cities were villages once.

PLATO'S SOLITARY MIND. (R.S THOMAS) Village life is the happiest compromise between the natural and the artificial. It is a merry
game between man and nature.
Hence, village life is the most natural life for the human beings. A village is enriched with natural beauty. The green
landscape, running brooks, excessive trees, grassy and lush green fields and meandering birds add up the beauty of village life. Nature
has always pleasant effect on the human beings. It keeps man alive in a real sense. The sight of beauty invokes the sentiment of
pleasure and happiness. BUT WHAT IS HAPPINESS EXCEPT SIMPLE HARMONY BETWEEN PERSONS AND LIFE THEY LEAD. ALBERT

God made things have special effect on human hearts. The beauty of a village pleases our aesthetic sense. A village has
matchless scenic beauty and freshness of atmosphere. The gleaming and dancing flowers fascinate us. ONE TOUCH OF NATURE
MAKES THE WHOLE WORLD KIN. WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE. The green trees, vast pastures and lush green fields add up our happiness.
The scenery of dawn and dusk is particularly beautiful and charming. Pakistan is a country of villages and the majority of the Pakistani
are villagers. Mostly people are associated with agriculture. They remain near nature. NATURE IS THE ART OF GOD. DANTE
ALGHIERI. Agriculture is the backbone of our economy. Thus the village life contributes to national economy a lot. Besides farming,
some villagers do painting, embroidery, pottery and handicrafts. Thus many villages and areas are famous for their products not only in
the country but also in the foreign countries. THE SUN DOESNT FORGET A VILLAGE BECAUSE IT IS SMALL
The villages are the centre of primitive custom and traditions. These practices reflect the old values found in our society. We
can analyze the difference of cities and villages with regard to traditions. We can look into our past by visiting a village. We can find
the changes which have taken place in primitive Aryan society over centuries. The regional festivals bring the people close to one
another. The manifestation of brotherhood can be observed on such occasions. The village people take part in fairs and festivals. The
celebrations are quite plain and simple. They attend the folk dance and the open air dramas. SIMPLICITY IS THE ULTIMATE
SOPHISTICATION. VINCI The people share each others happiness and grief. The time of death and wedding increases their oneness.
Though the streets are unpaved and narrow, their hearts are big and generous. They are hospitable. The guest of one family is
considered the guest of the whole village.
The villagers live in humble cottages. There are no melted roads in our villages. The village streets are narrow. The lanes are
crowded with animals and playing children. The houses are built quite close together and are often adjoined to one another. The
villagers are very conventional. They know no change. They are contented and satisfied with what God has blessed them with. They
dont run after money. Materialism is mostly fashion in cities. The villagers are sincere and honest. THE MERIT OF ORIGINALITY IS
NOT NOVELTY; IT IS SINCERITY. THOMAS CARLYLE . They know no selfishness. They love their custom and traditions. They are
simple, innocent, kind and hospitable. They have no liking for luxury. They manage with a few pieces of clothes. They prefer the plain
food. They discharge their social duties in the simplest possible manner. HE IS RICHEST WHO IS CONTENT WITH THE LEAST, FOR
CONTENT IS THE WEALTH OF NATURE. SOCRATES
Villagers are mostly field-workers. They take to farming. Some of them are artisans. All of them follow the trade of their
respective castes. They take to different callings of life. Some are priests, some are milkmen, some are oilmen, some are fishermen,
some are washer men, some are barbers and some are drummers and so on. THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE FOR HARDWORK. EDISON.
They are not rich and wealthy. But they have enough for their minimum requirements of life. Their physical labour keeps them healthy
and fit. They dont need jogging and a gym as it is common in cities.
There are many benefits of village life. First, life in a village is pure and easy. The needs of the village are a few. Eggs, milk,
vegetables and butter are their common diet. Their diet is pure though it is simple. There is no chance of impurity or contamination in
the food items in the villages. The village life also gives a person a chance to live a disciplined life in which a person wakes up early in
the morning and sleeps in the evening. The people of villages do not even need light because they have planned their life in a way that
they can survive without electricity. Their dress, food, custom and manners are simple but decent. LIFE IS REALLY SIMPLE, BUT MEN
INSIST ON MAKING COMPLICATED. CONFUCIUS
The atmosphere of the villages is very clean and pure. It is calm and peaceful. There is no noise and air pollution in the
villages. The villagers breathe in pure and fresh air. They are early riser and have a round of their lands early in the morning. It is
healthful. AN EARLY MORNING WALK IS A BLESSING FOR THE WHOLE DAY. HENRY DAVID THOREAU
There is no special fun for the villagers. Their only hobby is to make gossips or watch TV in the evening. The marriage
ceremony is the most amusing event of the village. This is the occasion when the villagers show their feelings of joy and ple asure.
Village fair is still another event of amusement for the villagers. IN THE COUNTRY, PEOPLE ARE QUIET BUT FEW ARE LONELY.
FISHER. The villagers find a lot of leisure time to enjoy their lives. They are not material beasts hankering after money. The cool s hady
tree is outstanding place to sit in and relish the shade and cool breeze. THE END OF LABOUR IS TO GAIN LEISURE
The village life has many demerits beside merits. A village lacks modern facilities. The education and hospital facilities are
limited in the villages. The chances of education are a few in the villages. Most of the people in villages are ignorant. They either shift
to cities to get educational and health facilities or spend a lot on transportation. This travelling is the waste of time as well of money.
They get depraved of basic facilities like education and health.

Owing to backwardness in education, tribal and family conflicts are very common in villages. They sometimes prolong to
decades and cause the loss of lives in scores. The people engage themselves in brutal exercise for the mere ego and self respect. The
villages present a painful picture during rainy season. They have to face problems in unpaved streets. Natural calamities like floods are
common in villages. Their economy is seasonal. They get job during the crop season. Mostly they lead an idle life. As a r esult, the
villagers remain depraved from modern facilities and financial gains.
The govt. offices, private companies, factories, skilled workers and technicians are very rare in villages. The people have t o
carry their machines that are out of order to cities for repair. They have to move towards cities to find jobs. The hawkers are common
sellers of good in villages. The villagers have to spend money and time to reach cities to procure the goods of daily use. Mo stly villagers
are uneducated and conservative. They are stuck to their primitive ideas whether they are beneficial or not. I HAD RATHER BE FIRST IN
A VILLAGE THAN SECOND AT ROME. JULIUS CAESURE
It is said that country life is sweet. It is true no doubt. The greatest of the poets have sung the pra ise of it. The romantic
poets fascinated the village life. Prophets, too have the greatest admiration for the village life. Great thinkers and philos ophers have
spent their invaluable lives in the countryside. Hence, village life is highly cherished, in all ages by every soulful man. OUT BEYOND
IDEAS OF WRONG DOING AND RIGHT DOING THERE IS FIELD. ILL MEET YOU THERE. WHEN THE SOUL LIES DOWN IN THAT GRASS,
THE WORLD IS TOO FULL TO TALK ABOUT.
