POSITION TITLE:
Adult Day Program Assistant

POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible to assist with the physical, social, spiritual and therapeutic needs of the clients.

QUALIFICATIONS:
High School graduate or equivalent GED
Current Basic Life Support and First Aide
Possesses verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with clients,
families, and supervisors.
Completes training requirements during orientation period and as provided by organization.

ACCOUNTABILITY:
The Program Assistant is accountable to the client and the Adult Day Center
Manager/Coordinator/Supervisor.
The Adult Day Center Manager/Coordinator/Supervisor completes supervision and evaluation of
the Program Assistant.
The Program Assistant works cooperatively with other Center staff as a member of a team of
professionals striving to provide the best care and customer service possible.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:


Assist clients with daily living and mobility to ensure appropriate care.
Assist in facilitating daily events and programming to meet the social needs of the clients.
Performs one on one interaction to enhance quality of life.
Performs routine personal care and grooming.
Assists with development of activity programming.
Assists with documentation of attendance and notes.
Other duties: Completes all other duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:


Moderate to heavy work; occasionally lifting 25 pounds or more. Duties may involve lifting,
carrying, pushing, pulling, turning, and stooping.
May experience prolonged periods of standing and walking
May experience periods of interruptions, stress, and pressure

May experience exposure to bloodborne pathogens, infectious illnesses, or hazardous chemicals
during the course of employment.
Duties regularly require the ability to talk, listen, and see. Hearing and vision should be
corrected to within normal range.
Motor coordination, manual dexterity, and near visual acuity required for providing patient care
and working with equipment.
Ability to follow Adult Day Services staffing patterns by working scheduled hours.
Flexibility in scheduling of hours required to accommodate changes in census and needs of
clients.
