Integration of Unigraphics and SAP PLM

Successful companies quickly bring to market innovative and high-quality products.

This requires integrated information flow and processes. An important prerequisite for
effective cooperation between engineering teams at different locations and with external
partner. This holds for developing new but also for changing existing products. Directed
common product engineering and the use of product data in sales, production planning,
preparation, production and order handling, speed up processes.

Your Benefits
Unigraphics models and drawings are managed by SAP PLM - reliable and redundance-free.
Engineering data is seamlessly integrated into business processes. Efficiency in your company
improves.

Reduction of retrieval times increases engineering productivity.

Cost savings derive from product standardization and a higher re-use rate.
Quick, company-wide access to current drawings.
Avoidance of failure costs by redundance-free filing and controlled release mechanisms.
Real-time collaborative engineering.
Increase in efficiency of product development by linking Unigraphics drawings and models to
other SAP objects.
Location-spanning data exchange.
Directed change and versioning processes.
SAP system customizing allows easy adjusting of integration functionalities to meet your
company's realities.

SAP PLM Integration for Unigraphics

The main task of integrating Unigraphics and SAP PLM is a consistent and reliable manage-
ment of models and drawings. SAP PLM manages all data and information incurring along the
lifecycle of your product. This is ranging from product development over production planning
and production to product service. Engineers no longer have to pay attention to filing structures
and locations. SAP PLM assumes all organization tasks. Your engineers have more available
time to develop your products. The powerful data recall function of SAP PLM allows a high re-
use rate of existing parts, and finding resembling parts. The integration supports collaborative
engineering scenarios.

A separate menu integrated into the Unigraphics command bar provides interaction with SAP
PLM. The interface offers users’ process optimized screen forms.

A big advantage over stand-alone EDM/PDM systems is the omission of redundant data
management. Documents, drawings, material masters, bills of material, and classification data
are managed by SAP PLM - reliable and redundance-free. Information objects associate with
each other by object link. SAP PLM provides mechanisms for versioning documents, and
techniques to configure, distribute and replicate data.

The interface features full access to functionalities of SAP product data management:
Management of parts, assemblies, and drawings in SAP PLM and setup of product struc-
tures = document management.
Material Management.
Collaborative, location-spanning engineering.
Status dependent creation of viewing files.
Creation and maintenance of bills of material and where-used lists.
Linking document info records with material master, equipment and business workplace
data.
Classification
Revision service, release and change management.
Easy configuration of status networks.
Project management, relating CAD documents to an order, project or product.
Visualization and navigation in product structures with SAP product structure browser.
Workflow
Access to SAP office.
