mathematics when I was in high school. She took AB Bachelor of Secondary Education major in
Mathematics at University of Nueva caceres. She has been teaching for 5 years. Currently she is
teaching Mathematics and Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao at Jose de Villa High School in
Calabanga.

Transcript interview:
(After a brief introduction of my self and explaining the purpose of this interview.)
Jessa: First question po.
Why did you go into teaching?
Maam Maya: I go to teaching for this is my dream, to educate students to become productive
citizen, to share what I learned not only in academic but on how to survive in the battle of life in
the real world.
Jessa: Ahmm! In what grade level are you teaching right now?
Maam Maya: I am now teaching grade 8 mathematics and grade 8 education sa pagpapakatao.
wherein I share unselfishly my expertise in math as my major.
Jessa: What has been the rewarding experience for your career thus far?
Maam Maya: Now I am continuing my studies by taking my masters degree at Naga College
Foundation to continue learning and to elevate my position as master teacher?
Jessa: How is teaching mathematics in the public school?
Maam Maya: Teaching is the easiest subject to teach, at first you have to teach the students to
love the subject, for if you let them love the subject it is easy for us to educate them about the
lesson covered by the subject. Do not let your student learned the way the teacher wants but let
the student learned the way they want. Always consider the uniqueness of the students. You do
not give grades to students according to their score but you have given them grades according to
their learnings.
Jessa: What are the usual classroom assessment that you do?
Maam Maya: I gave classroom assessment through Seat works, quiz, examination, Board work
activities, discussion, recitationetc.
Jessa: How often you give assessment? Performance task?
Maam Maya: Every day after I finished my discussion, after the unit lesson, and quarterly
You just not assess the students just to know if there is a call for remediation of the lesson or if it
is good enough to proceed for the next topic.
Jessa: And the last question po maam what would you recommend to me considering teaching
as a career?
Maam Maya: Okay! As a future teacher you must have the fashion to teach, you know how to
love children/students, you yourself must always be ready before you stand in front of your
students. Teaching is not just a profession, but it is a mission.
Jessa: Thank you po maam for your very inspiring thoughts. And I am looking forward to be a
good teacher someday. Thank you po also for answering all those questions.
Maam Maya: Youre welcome and I believed that you will be an excellent teacher like us.
Jessa: Thank you po again. Good bye po.
