A Piece of My Life Writing an

Auto-Biography
Your task is to write your very own Auto-Biography that highlights your own personal life, and
the events that make you the person you are today. The short piece of text should consist of
four small paragraphs that inform the reader of specific events that have taken place
throughout your life thus far, along with a vision of where you want to be in the next 5-10
years. This style of writing in designed to be an honest and open text for the audience to read.

Structure

Title of your Auto-Biography


Paragraph 1 Introduction: Name, age, where you live, country/state of birth, schooling
life, family members, hobbies/interests, interesting facts about you, any other
information that you would like to include about yourself.
Paragraph 2 Moment of Conflict: A time in your life when you were confronted with an
unknown issue, or with people or situations that tested your values and challenged your
identity in some way. This could include a time when you were expected to fail but were
able to overcome this issue.
Paragraph 3 Moment of Enlightenment: An event that helped you see some truth about
yourself, your family, or the world you live in for the first time. This could include an
interesting or exciting event that has taken place or how a person you admire has helped
you to become the person you are.
Paragraph 4 Plans for the Future / Conclusion: What are your plans after school? Where
do you see yourself in 5-10 years from now (job, education, marriage etc.)? Who and what
is important in your life? Why are these people/things important to you, and how do they
mould who you are as a person?
Word Count 500 minimum 1,200 maximum

2. Spend first double lesson writing Get your story on paper
3. Proof read your story before single lesson
4. Submit an edited draft of your story
5. Spend single lesson receiving and giving feedback in small groups
6. Spend second double lesson editing story using peer feedback
7. Proof read and make final changes to the finished product of your story before submitting
