TITLE

Effect of chest pack on body temperature, heart rate, blood pressure and pulse in
healthy volunteers.
BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

Naturopathy is a distinct type of primary care medicine that blends age-old healing
traditions with scientific advances and current research. Naturopathy is guided by a
unique set of principles that recognize the body’s innate healing capacity, emphasize
diseases, prevention and encourage individual responsibility to obtain optimal health
without any side effects.1
Hydrotherapy being one of the spectrum of nature cure treatments adds up its
therapeutic effect on diseases. Water is applied in varying temperatures for various
diseased conditions. As water is one of the major component of our body with the major
contribution, its application will have no side effects. Water being an universal solvent is
beneficial in any forms of it for the purpose of cure of disease. This peculiar and precious
quality of water is being utilized for the treatment modalities from the age old times of
medicinal origin. Water acts as a medium to measure the temperature levels. Hence, any
fluctuations in the body temperature can be treated easily and successfully in a
constructive way with hydrotherapy treatments without fear of any adverse effects. This
study is about the effect of chest pack on body temperature, heart rate, blood pressure and
pulse.
Application of chest pack has a physiological effect on vasoconstriction of the blood
vessels. This has an impact of initial rise of temperature followed by a decrease and ends
up in normal temperature. Thus helps in maintaining the body temperature.

Abstract
Naturopathy is a distinct type of primary care medicine that blends age-old healing traditions with scientific

advances and current research. Naturopathy is guided by a unique set of principles that recognize the

body's innate healing capacity, emphasize disease prevention, and encourage individual responsibility to
obtain optimal health. Naturopathic treatment modalities include diet and clinical nutrition, behavioral

change, hydrotherapy, homeopathy, botanical medicine, physical medicine, pharmaceuticals, and minor

surgery. Naturopathic physicians (NDs) are trained as primary care physicians in 4-year, accredited

doctoral-level naturopathic medical schools. At present, there are 15 US states, 2 US territories, and several

provinces in Canada, Australia, and New Zealand that recognize licensure for NDs. Published by Elsevier
