BREXIT consequences essay.

The Brexit was inspired in the political idea of Greexit, that was
proposed in Greece by the time of the greek crisis. The Brexit is now
the democratical decision of british people for the withdrawal from EU
because of a new euroscepticism in economical and political German
hegemony in the EU. Nowadays there are some consequences of
such decision in terms of political, economical, social and
international relations issues. Along this essay those consequences
will be explained.
First lets explore the economical issues. UKs motive to join the EU
was to expand trade relations under the single market system but in
the short time, UK might have a hard time with trade relations with its
former mates in the EU because it takes much time to make new
comercial agreements between both regions.
The benefits for Britain of staying in the EU were primarily economic
the EU is a large market, accounting for 25% of world GDP. The EU
is the biggest trading partner of the UK; 45% of UK exports are to the
EU and 50% of imports are from the EU so we can see the trade
impact very clearly with this numbers.
Otherwise, the attractiveness of the UK as a destination for foreign
direct investment is enhanced by the countrys membership of the
EU, and access to its markets. The UK would then be seen as a safe
haven from those risks, attracting investors, boosting the pound and
reducing the risk that Scotland would leave the relative safety of the
UK for an increasingly uncertain EU.
Secondly the social impact of the immigration would be reduced in the
UK. According to the Office for National Statistics, there are 942000
eastern Europeans, Romanians and Bulgarians working in the UK,
along with 791,000 western Europeans and 293000 workers from
outside the EU. China and India are the biggest source of foreign
workers in the UK, but the muslim immigration would be reduced in
the context of the EU withdrawal. Brexit could be considered like a
paranoid decision that was motivated by the fear of terrorist attacks.
The political consequences were the contradiction between Scotland
and Ireland with the general decision of the british voters who chose
in favor of Brexit. That renewed the motivation of being separated
from the UK. Other political consequence were the resign of the UK
Prime Minister and the change of political seek of objectives.
In the international relations issues is noted an alignment with the
Trump international policy of avoiding or at least reducing relations
with some muslim countries starting with restrictions in immigration
and the implementation of economical protective policy. Almost the
same political strategy was taken in the Cold War context with Ronald
Reagan and Margaret Thatcher. Now we have started a Second Cold
War with Donald Trump and Theresa May. Nationalism, protective
economy and a restructuration of the globalization policies are the
constant elements of the international relation issues like some
consequences of Brexit.
In conclusion the UK obtained the EU membership, but suspicion of
political union with the rest of Europe remained strong. Brexit argued
that the European project was already moving beyond mere
economic integration and toward a European superstate with
Germanys economical hegemony. Then the british withdrawal
caused multiple consequences momentarily in the economical
context, renewed the spirit of separation in Ireland and Scotland,
place a hard situation with some muslim statates in terms of
immigration topics, and caused a political change in the UK political
objectives.
