Introduction :
The very preamble of the Act signifies that an Act to amend and codified law to relate intestate
succession among Hindus. The Act aims to lay down an uniform law of succession whereas
attempt has been made to ensure equality inheritance rights between sons and daughters from the
past. It applies to all Hindus including Budhists, Jains and Sikhs. It lays down an uniform and
comprehensive system of inheritance and .applies to those governed by the Mitakshara and
Dayabha schools as well as other schools. The Hindu Succession Act reformed the Hindu
personal law and gave women greater property rights, allowing her f ownership rights instead of
limited rights in property.

1.2 significance of study


The entire purpose of study is to check how the act was originated and how it has evolved in the
due course of time.

1.3 objective of study


After my research i have found there is no objective for the historical perspective hindu
succession act and it was to find out the historical significance of the act.

1.4 Hypothesis
The Hindu Succession Act, 1956 is an Act of the Parliament of India enacted to amend and
codify the law relating to intestate or unwilled succession, among Hindus, Buddhists, Jains, and
Sikhs. The Act lays down a uniform and comprehensive system of inheritance and applies to
persons governed by both the Mitkar and Dyabhga schools. It is hailed for its consolidation
of Hindu laws on succession into one Act.

1.5 Scope of study


My scope will be limited to the historical perspective of the Hindu Succession Act, 1956 and the
present aspects of the Hindu succession act.

This project is completely based on the methodology of doctrinal research work. Thereby
research work is done by collecting the sources of datas from books, journals, web articles etc..
